Advice to help convince my fiance on our HM

My fiance and I haven't decided on a honeymoon yet. His first reaction when I asked about one was 'Can the kids come?' He's backed off on that (I'm going to miss them too, but this is the only chance we'll ever have), then told me that he'll give me 2 nights max. Since then, he hasn't mentioned 'only 2 nights' but mentioned he wants to go north. I have dreamed since I was a little girl that I would honeymoon on a beach somewhere. I really want to go to a Sandals and do a honeymoon registry there. We have almost everything we need for the house. I have my heart set on it, but I haven't brought it up to him because I'm worried he will hate the idea. It's getting closer to a time when we should really start forming a registry. Any advice?

Stop putting off talking to him.

Why does he want to go north? What are his concerns about leaving the kids? If you have a solution to his concerns, then the job of convincing him will be much easier. Tell him how much you want to go to a beach. Then have a plan B ready for the purposes of compromise.

If you want to honeymoon on a beach, find one that has things your fiance will enjoy, too. Does he like history? Certain cultures? Activities? Make a list, then go to a travel agent (free at AAA if you're a member) and ask for their advice. You don't have to book through the agent -- you might be able to find better deals online. But this way, you'll have options to talk about with your fiance, and you'll both end up getting the honeymoon you want!

I agree with you on no children. This is a once in a lifetime vacation and you can take many family vacations in the years to come. As far as location, just talk to him and be honest with what you were hoping for and find out his reasons for wanting to go north. Perhaps find a location that has the stuff he wants to do along with a beach for you. What about northern California? You could even get a car and drive up further north for a few days and then travel further south to get the beach scenario you want. I think compromising will be the only way to go here. OR one of you gives in for the honeymoon and do the other option on your next vacay.

Talk it out.  Comprimise.  2 days up north w/ kids vs a week at sandals alone?  How about a 4-5 day cruise or stay in Florida?

Well, that's certainly a very worthy thing for you to set your heart on- other people paying for your vacation.  However, you have to remember that this is HIS wedding/honeymoon too, so you need to figure out what you guys can compromise on.

Also, you shouldn't need advice on how to talk to your FH about something like this.

agree. take a HM that you can afford.
you both need to learn how to communicate and compromise.
