To sell your dress or not to sell you dress?

Hi Ladies!

So we just got married last week, and I'm torn with the idea of whether or not I should sell my dress. I am in love with it, and still stare at it every day hanging in my closet. But am I just going to put it in a box and let it sit in my closet for ever?

What have you girls done/planning to do?

Thanks!

  • I'm definitely planning to sell mine. I had decided to keep my quinces dress bc of sentimental value but all i did was kept it in a closet so 10 years later, i sold it and still was able to make money out of it!

  • If it's just going to sit in a box, I say you sell it! Not only will you make money, but you may also be helping another bride who otherwise may not have been able to afford/find such an awesome dress. (side note: I bought my dress used and I couldn't be more thankful to the seller!)

  • I'm selling mine, when I have a daughter i'm sure she won't want my dress. So might as well let someone else use it.

  • I'm not selling mine but that's just because I don't think my mother would let me, lol!

If you have a place to keep it and don't want to part with it, then don't. If you are okay with getting rid of it, then I think it's totally fine to sell it!

I'm also not convinced that many people have good luck with selling their dresses and would rather not mess with the hassle of it.

Completely agree! I planning to sell my dress once the wedding is over because I'm sure someone will be interested to wear my dress for their wedding but possibly can't afford it. The only item I will be keeping from my dress is the cathedral veil. I hope I would be able to pass it down to someone in my family to be used on their wedding day.
  • I am keeping mine.  I think that I will make a christening dress from it.  I definitely don't expect my daughter to want to wear it for her wedding.

  • Thanks ladies! I called around to some dry cleaners and it's highway robbery! I didn't find a quote less than $250  to clean and preserve it! This was not in my budget lol!
