Flower budget?

I keep hearing that I have a small flower budget so I'm wondering what is normal? Mine is $3000.. Is that super low?

I'd love to know what the "average" flower budget is. I'm not having a ton of flowers but would like to know what to budget.

I don't think $3k is a low budget for flowers! I wouldn't know because my caterer is including flowers in my per person price but still, if I had to, my flower budget would be way below $3k.

I am having my ceremony flowers, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, 5 bridemaids and a reception area for 100 people for $1700. I think it also varies on which flowers, if they are in season and how elaborate you want the flowers. I'm going pretty simple with hydrangea, Calla Lillies and Peony

Thanks ladies, I'm not really picky on the kind of flower. I just have a certain style in mind. But I am shooting for gerber daisies and roses. But I keep hearing that I have a small flower budget.. It's weird..

You have an excellent wedding budget! I am adding more flowers ( one rose or orchids tucked in each napkin with menu) so we will end up with $3500 in flowers and we have 130 people...The centerpieces are very tall with hydrangeas, roses and calla lilies and hanging crystals...HTH

Not at all. My budget for flowers is $2,000. I'm having 8 small but very full centerpieces, three bouquets, six small CP for the cocktail hour tables, two tall big CP for ceremony and one big, full CP for the escort card table. This all came out to $2,130. I'm having roses, hydrangeas, calla lillies, mums, and orchids. So I think $3,000 is a good amount for flowers, just stick with flowers that are in season.

Your budget is in the average range, but it is higher than mine.  Get some recs and meet with more florists if the ones you talked to couldn't help you out.  There are some florists that charge a lot more than what they should.

You can try my florist, Natinel Designs, which Jen and Beth are both using.

I was so freaked out about flower budgets too! I'm spending about $1300. Majority of that is our bouquets since I insisted on peonies and calla lilies. I did very simple centerpieces and limited number of bouts. Keep in mind that there are florists (those that work with teleflora for example) that offer the EXACT same items for quadruple the price so your best bet is to shop around!!!

I can't even imagine spending $3k on something you're just gonna throw out!! My budget WAS $1200 but we upped it to $2100 because once my mom saw what we could do with a little more money, she wanted it allllll!! But hey, she was paying for it so whatever!

Mine is higher than the numbers mentioned but not astronomical ... I think flowers total are around 4 or 5k for 150 people.  (I can't remember exactly because the total quote we got included draping, lighting, and chargers as well as florals).

That said, a couple of things:

    1) I did pretty much all orchids, plus marigolds.  I know orchids aren't the cheapest flower, and I have no idea about the price of marigolds but I doubt they are frequently used.

    2) My quote includes a chuppah-like canopy with flowers for the ceremony as well as centerpieces, bouquets, etc.

    3) I did not shop around.  I loved the vision the first florist created for us, plus they work with my venue all the time, so they knew exactly how to make the most of the space.

mine is around 2k, but I'm not using "flowers" for centerpieces, I'm using montsera leaves in tall vases with just orchids on each place setting.  yours is totally normal

Thanks ladies. My "budget" is just the amount that I can spend. I have meetings with them on Friday and Saturday so I'll let you know how it goes

I have to add that my friend or her dad, spend about 8k on flowers!! It is insane.. If I was ever quoted that I may faint!! I think 3k is perfect and you should be able to get a lot

I was quoted 4k, so I would say your budget is about right

Wink Thanks!! Our florist was Gil Sosa... he does AMAZING work and he really works with your budget!!

$2k-4k actually seems to be the norm on this board... so you're fine! If $3k is the MAX you can spend, then tell the florist it's $2200-2500... that way there's wiggle room. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!
