NWR: Dog toys! & PIP

So...Clyde loves loves loves his kong as well as his nylabone...but I've been wanting to get him something just as durable or almost as durable as those things...we can't get him the raw hydes because of his sensitive belly...he loves sqeeky toys, but he always seems to destroy them!

What do you recommend?

Also, wanted to share a pic that FI took while I was sleeping over the weekend...He just climbed up & cuddled next to me! I remember him getting himself comfy, but that's about it! haha such a dork cuddle baby!  (and this is how he normally sleeps next to FI at night! haha)

  • Such a cute picture! I can't believe he lays on his back like that!

Riley loves his kong, his kong wubba http://www.amazon.com/Kong-Wubba-Large-Colors-Vary/dp/B000MD57ZI which is a squeaky toy, and plain old rope. But to be honest, he isn't much of a chewer (which I know is strange for a lab) and the only destruction his toys see are when we're playing tug-o-war with him. So even though the kong wubba has held up 2+ years with him and seems really durable, I'm not sure if that would be the case with all dogs.

  • One of my dogs loves to tear apart her toys.  I mean have you ever seen or heard of a shih-tzu tear apart a tennis ball? Well mine does.  And there's nothing that gives her greater satisfaction then managing to rip all the stuffing out of her "babies" and spitting out the squeaker. FMIL bought these for our dogs at Christmas, 2 years in a row and they love them

They actually kind of look like "road kill" and they come  a bunch of different animals.

Molly can't rip these part and actually has 2 of them that are meant for large breed dogs as well as a slew of smaller ones.  She carries them around like it's her security blanket.

  • How cute!!!

Well our dog destroys every single thing he gets his mouth on except for the GIANT black kong ($25 at stores like petsmart). That's the only thing he cannot destroy. We put peanut butter in it and freeze it overnight sometimes. He also loves his red kong ball.

Those are the only toys he has :( He has tons of bones though!! He prefers to play with sticks and dead animals. He's such a lovely boy.

  • Awww that's such a cute picture. I have no other advice besides the kong toys. I grew up with dogs and my parents last dog used to chew and destroy all toys as well. I want a puppy now that we have the house and FI agreed after the wedding we can get one!!

  • Love the picture!!

Parker is really good and does not destroy his toys so we get him anything that squeaks.  Furry animals and he loves balls!!  He has this little plastic pig that he loves!!!  It oinks when he bites it Parker makes this really funny noise that he doesn't do with any other toy.  We got it at a specialty pet store here.  It is very similar to this one.

    thanks for the suggestions!!

Madison, my grandparents sent him one of those for Christmas last year & he destroyed it in 10 minutes...lol he was determined to get those squeekers out!! hahaha but he loved whipping it around! It was hilarious! I can't believe your dog destroyed a tennis ball!!! ahaha

I've been searching for a squeaky bone that he had when we first got him..he finally destroyed it last fall.  So he had it for a good few months....

EDIT!! Here it is! This was awesome for a couple of months!  http://www.amazon.com/JW-Pet-43037-Isqueak-Large/dp/B000MCZVOG/ref=sr_1_14?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1336480934&sr=1-14

& yes, he loves to lay on his back...aww special puppy haha
  • LM we acquired a black German shepherd from FI's parents since they can no longer take care of him. So between my Lab, and him we go through toys like it is nobody's business. The one we bought him (the shepherd, his name is Brady, yes like Tom Brady my FI and his dad are obsessed with the Patriots and we had to name the dog Brady) It is made out of Tire material so he hasn't ripped it apart yet

it is something like this:  http://www.amazon.com/Ethical-Pet-Products-PupTreads-Tire/dp/B001G7ZCXG

My lab can pretty much handle everything except for plush toys and toys with squeakers. He will tear them up until there is no more and stuffing is everywhere.
