healthy snacks

Anyone have any ideas? I'm in a snack rut, and am really tired of unsweetened applesauce and almonds...and I'm not much of a raw veggie eater (I'll eat carrots raw, but I'd rather skip the snack then eat them. :)

I usually eat a protein, carb (in veggie/fruit form) and fat

hardboiled egg, two clementines, almond butter (spoonful)
3 slices of ham wrapped in pickle and avocado
    jerky, pecans, dried fruit

I have very little processed carbs like crackers, pasta, chips or pretzels.
  • Ugh, I snack on lame things. I love clementines, peaches, bananas, trail mix, apple sauce, crackers (I love the wheatables).

Sometimes I just drink tea with few drops of honey if I am hungry at work but can't really eat while teaching.

I'm usually good if I'm at work, but when I am home, I like to raid the fridge/cabinets and if I see a bag of chips or candies- they're going straight to my stomach. I have no motivation to snack on healthy stuff when I am at home.

  • I usually bring fruit or granola bars.  I found these graham cracker things that were coated with chocolate that were delicious from Nature's Valley that were actually decently healthy.  Other than that I'm boring :(

  • 80 calorie lite cheesesticks, apples, grapes, light and fit yogurt, whole wheat pretzels......
  • I'd rather snack all day than eat a regular meal. My favorites ( I like salty/crunchy snacks): Peanut/almond butter with apples or high fiber crackers Sharp cheddar with apples, grapes, or HF crackers Popcorn Turkey jerky Greek yogurt with grain-free granola Roasted seeds/nuts Dark chocolate covered raisins Graham crackers with whipped cream cheese Egg/tuna salad with HF crackers Popchips!

  • Greek yogurt or cottage cheese are my go-tos because they are actually pretty filling for the calories involved. I also love almonds but you already said you're sick of them :) Sometimes if I'm especially munchy and know that I need a bunch of stuff, I'll do "lite" popcorn because it's not a lot of calories, high in fiber, and keeps you busy for a while. If you're worried you'll eat too much, get those 100 calorie packs (although I think they are overpriced, honestly).

  • Dried fruit! Soo yummy and gives you the *crunch* you're craving to take the place of chips (my normal favorite snack).

  • I like to snack on rice cakes, oranges, chobani (pineapple), and the choc brownie kids cliff bars.

  • - roasted chickpeas seasoned with whatever your favorite spices/herbs are
    - very small handful of roasted nuts - almonds are one of the best choices, or pistachios (just remember to keep your serving size small - nuts are very healthy but only in very low portions!)
    - grapes
    - carrot sticks, broccoli florets, or sliced pepper dipped in hummus (again keep this to a fairly small portion - a tablespoon full of hummus is perfect)
    - banana (but not too many bananas due to the density/sugars in a banana)
    - apple slices with one teaspoon peanut butter

one of my FAVORITE snacks is a simple chocolate-banana smoothie.  put one banana, four ice cubes, a small pour of skim milk (or soy milk or almond milk), and a few squirts of sugar-free chocolate syrup in a blender, frappe until it is to a consistency of your liking, and enjoy!!! seriously, it sounds simple (and it is), but it is delicious too!!! if chocolate-banana isn't your thing, take out the chocolate squirts and add in some honey + cinnamon. this is a great flavor combo too! i also love adding a handful of strawberries or some sliced pineapple.
