Typical costs for a wedding planner and/or DOC?

I'm trying to decide if we can fit this into our budgets and have started to get quotes but I'm not really sure what is reasonable. Honestly, I don't mind researching/calling vendors. I just need help with the decoration and coordination of the day part. Do you know how much wedding planners and DOCs typically charge?

Thanks in advance! :)

I have a mid-range planning package and it's around $1600.  I know a lot of girls on here have found DOC's in the $500 range.

I am not sure how much a DOC charges bc mine is included in my catering package but I have heard anything from $250 to $1500 for DOC only.

I highly suggest you get a DOC, maybe not a full planner, but definitely a DOC. I went to a wedding recently where the bride didn't have one and the vendors were going nuts at first bc she wasn't around and they weren't told what the bride wanted. The reception ended up starting late but simply bc the vendors had to scramble to put the schedule together last minute.

I'm still kind of new to the boards so I'm not quite sure what DOC stands for but I can only guess it means something for the Day Of Coordination... I know some wedding planners offer a week of coordination, so that way they know you better and understand you vision. So when you ask around see if they are offering something like that. I know at the Fort Lauderdale Bridal Expo a company named "An Alexis Event" was offering that type of package. If you're interested their website is: analexisevent.com. Hope this helps! I definitely think its worth it!

Lots of planners charge a percentage of your budget, while DOCs will commonly charge a set amount.  Planners can range from $1500 up.  I think choosing between a planner and a DOC is totally based on your circumstances.  I had always wanted to plan my own wedding, but ended up going with a full planner because I currently live in NY, and my reception is at a home where everything has to be brought in.  I am so happy that I chose to have a full planner, and it really has made the entire planning process almost stressless! I still get to pick everything I want, but my planner does all of the work behind the scenes to get it done.  She's also negotiated with all of my vendors for incredible prices.

If you need any recs, you can probably tell I'd highly recommend mine, Jennifer Johnson of Jennifer J Events :)
