Rehearsal Dinner....Is this okay?

Our original wedding date was 11.10.12 until we found our reception and moved it to 11.09.12 because all the Saturdays for the months of October and November were booked a year before our wedding.

Being that our wedding is on a Friday, our coordinator set up our rehearsal for Thursday. We are hoping to move up our church rehearsal practice for Wednesday in order fo FI and I to get done anything which needs to get done on Thursday, relax, and for me to enjoy some family time. Aside from us, we think it may be best for our wedding party as well to get it done earlier in the week.

With that being said, if we do get to change our rehearsal date....would it be okay to have the rehearsal dinner the weekend before the wedding? We want to keep it simple and intimate and decided to host a dinner party at FI's house.

Is it okay to have the rehearsal dinner before the actual church rehearsal??

  • If a lot of your wedding party is from out of town, they might not be available the weekend before, or even on the Wednesday before. I'd check with them!

Our entire wedding party lives in Miami except for the best man. We already knew he would arrive a day before the wedding and possibly miss out on almost everything wedding-related acitivities which is understanable. I was thinking holding the rehearsal dinner on the weekend would probably be best because of their work schedules (some work in South Miami and the others work in Broward) and two of them have small children (one will be months old by then).

The more I think about it the more sense it seems to make to have the rehearsal dinner on a weekend.
  • Other than OOT guests that you might want to have at your Rehearsal or RD, I don't see a problem with it. You could have a WP get together and let them know of your final countdown and lay everything on the table of what still needs to be done. Then that will also help take away the stress in the days leading up to your wedding.

Agreed and it's what I am going to do. I am pretty sure the week leading to the wedding will be crazy and I really would like to stay as cool and collective as I can. I really don't want any breakout due to stress which happens so freaking often :(
