bummed =(

In regards to my time of ceremony and reception start popst yesterday. I contacted the church and the 6:00 pm time has been taken. =(. I was hoping to get it. I told the lady if the other person changes their mind and wants to switch to let me know.

So now my only option is the 2:00 pm ceremony. any advice? Should I stick to the 5:30 cocktail hour start time? im confused and dont know what to do.

    Aww Lacey that is a bummer, but i think that it will be fine if you do the long ceremony from 2-3.  It will take some time to do pictures and stuff.  I would just plan something for your guests to do maybe in the meantime.

    Are you locked in to that church, maybe there is another one in the area that you like?

    yeah I think that's totally fine. I have been to many weddings where the ceremony is earlier and we go to the reception later :)

    It depends if you've got your heart set on an evening reception. If you don't mind, an afternoon reception would be ideal (and it can be so pretty, too!). Good luck with this, doll!

    That stinks! I think that if you aren't going to do the cocktail directly after then it's good to give people time to go back home or to do whatever else they are going to do so maybe do it at 5:30 or 6pm. Unless your ceremony will be super long, then make the cocktail just after it like maybe at 4pm or something?

    Tiffany-thanks, any suggestions as to what to do? I was going to tell them about the mall right there, im not sure what else there would be to do.

    As for the church im not locked into them, I would just lose a $100 deposit I believe, but they were the cheapest and included the cantor and organist. They were the only church in the area that did the late ceremony everywhere else was 2:00pm

    Oh wow if they include the organist I say keep them for sure. LOL.  I am in the debate on the organist right now for our ceremony and the guy we want is $500...yeah right!

    I have seen some ideas before where the couple set up a boat ride if they were on the water, a tour of any historic sites near your venues, a scavenger hunt maybe.  I think the locals will probably go home and then go to the reception.

    Jaime had a good point, you could have the cocktail hour at 4 or 430 and then the reception at 5 or 530.

    Thanks Alissa.

    Jen- I would like an evening reception because I dont want it to end early and all lol. I love the thought of it being a night "out". =)

    Jaime-So you think it will be fine to have the ceremony till 3 church pics till 3:30 and then that gives guests 2 hours to do whatever or go back to their hotels to hang out or mall or home till 5:30 or should I move it to 5:00? 3:30-5:30 we would take group pics and pics with just FI and I.

    Tiffany-yeah it was the only church in PBG/Jupiter area that included the organist. and the whole thing is $600. I couldnt beat that. Ive considered doing the ceremony at Frenchman's but then I would need to rent chairs and get ceremony decor and geez who knows what else I would need haha. I would need to spend more $$ than I orginially planned.

    I could start cocktail hour at 4:30 and go from there, that wouldn't be too bad. Im sure it will be fine and I dont know why Im worried about this maybe b/c like 20 ppl on here voted for the later ceremony then the earlier one haha and Im thinking the later would be better. I mean Ive been to some weddings with the wait and just found something to do no problem so i dont see why others can't.
