Country Clubs....(small vent)

So my aunt works for a major country club (I'll leave the name out) in the near by area so she has a lot of connections to country clubs in Palm Beach and Broward County. She sent me a list and told my mom that she'll be able to get us really big discounts at the places if we decide to hold our wedding there. The only thing is I dont think I want my wedding at a country club (no offense to anyone having theirs at one, just not my style). My mom still wants us to check them out because of the high savings but I feel like it's a waste of time. I feel like my mom is going to guilt me into picking a CC venue just because of the cost.

On top of that, my parents absolutely REFUSE to go to Miami. Not sure why, I dont think they've ever been down there. They just dont like the idea of having the wedding in an unknown hugh city. But there are so many garden venues there that are EXACTLY what I'm looking for. So now FI and I have to go down there alone and see the venues for ourselves.

I guess I just needed a monday morning vent since I'm a little tired and cranky.

I'm sorry :(  Did you try to talk to your mom about your desire to have a garden setting rather than a CC? Maybe she just doesn't understand what your vision is and is only focusing on cost.

Have you checked out other places in Palm Beach or Broward that aren't CC?
I was thinking of having mine also in Miami but, with having alot of oot guests I would have to pick some of them up at the airport and MIA can be a hassle going back and forth(I'm in Palm Beach)

I know the feeling about CCs... but there are some really beautiful ones around... even still, they can usually feel pretty stiff/stuffy. I say definitely look at a few but also look at what YOU want! It'll appease your mom and you never know.. you MAY find a CC that you love! Good luck!

I'm getting married in a CC ... and I haaaaate the look of traditional CCs.  There are definitely some out there that don't look like the usual thing.  The Hamlet in Delray (my venue) is very Asian-inspired, and the Parkland CC is Italian-villa style.  Mirasol looks pretty and Spanish-influenced too ... so look around a little bit, if I'd written off CCs I wouldn't have found the perfect place.
