Band Recommendations?

I was hoping to have a smooth jazz band for cocktail hour.  Any suggestions?  Also I am interested in the general consensus of Band vs. DJ for the reception other than costs?  Thanks!

    Personally I prefer a DJ. There's just something about hearing a band play covers that I don't like.

    I tend to agree...I think I watched Wedding Singer one to many times!

    I think it just depends on who you are and what you want. I never wanted a band, I'm not a great dancer to music that band can play. I just want to shake my booty lol and a dj is best for that. The only negative that I've ever read about a band is that they take breaks so if you hire one find out how they will keep the party going if they need a break.

    I don't know if they do smooth jazz but check out aamusicians.com they are pretty popular, I am looking into them for a guitarist for the ceremony and cocktail hour
