Eek! I just visited the dark side, and it was scary! Up until this point, I have thought the DIY girls were really nice, and the budget girls were reasonably nice (they can be mean, but typically only to girls who ask not-so-smart questions), but now even the DIY girls are attacking! Watch out!

A lot of the boards have some mean spirited girls, but luckily this is one of the nice ones, and hopefully will remain that way! I find that the mean girls are mostly already married, have posted thousands of times, and seem to have nothing better to do than insult other brides! Guess they forget what it's like to be just starting out. Sad really :-/

I am only commenting on this cause we had a "thing' aka war full of "puppies and rainbows" about the other boards. I would try to keep it just as some people out there can be mean spirited and REALLY try not to name which board or particular person.

Sometimes other boards and this board gives their opinions. Other boards can be more opinioned than others.Hopefully you will get a better experience here. We all have our own opinions about others and good thing we have this board to express how we feel. This has happened to another South Florida bride in the past and even me at one point. Sometimes It's best to stay with South Florida:)

I read and post on a bunch of the boards (two cultural boards plus some of the big international ones).  The main thing to me is to lurk and get a feel for things before you jump in. 

Some things do vary pretty dramatically depending on region, social circle, ethnicity, etc., but in general the international boards are pretty good for getting a consensus on how a diverse group of people would react to an idea.  Most of the time, when I see serious backlash against something over there, it's not for no reason.

I've never really visited any other board - barely have enough time for this one :-/ but I think it's hilarious that people actually fight and/or bicker on a message board?! That's just absurd lol

I'm all for giving an honest opinion whether it's positive or negative as long as it's not a b1tchy remark. Some other ladies on particular boards are looking for a fight and sometimes the person who asks the question doesn't really want to hear an honest opinion (and that can start something).

Oh, I've posted on several other boards, and I've never been "jumped on" - I've just seen others kind of get attacked, and just wanted to say thanks to you all for being so nice!

There are a lot of cultural and regional differences when it comes to weddings, and I think that's partly how the fights get started - someone calls someone else's idea "tacky" without realizing that they are from different cultures, and there are different rules amongst the cultures, so what's unacceptable in one is acceptable in another. At any rate, I think we do a good job here on the South Florida board trying to be honest without being demeaning to one another, and I appreciate that.
