"Work Exchange?"

I thought of something last night, what do you guys think?

Alot of us are trying to cut costs and DIY as much as possible, but not all of us are skilled in every aspect of DIYing that a wedding requires.  What if we offered our strong points as a service to everybody in exchange for something else that we need?  Obviously, you would be responsible for the cost of supplies.

Like:
-Bride A will do Bride B's invitation design, and Bride B will do Bride A's favors.
-Bride C will assemble Bride D's wedding centerpieces, and Bride D will act as Bride C's day of coordinator
-Bride E will help assemble Bride F's out of town bags, and Bride F will make Bride E's cake topper

Or even something as simple as helping assemble each other's wedding invitations?  I've found when it comes to tedious tasks, 1+1=3.

    This is a really cool idea!! I wish I was in Miami to get some help! ...actually...I am going to be in town from August 8-23rd for my Bachelorette party & doing some wedding prep stuff...if anyone would want to do a free boudoir shoot I'd be more then happy to do a few (I'm a photog but I'm NOT a miami vendor don't worry!! :) I live in Asia!) you can check out my site www.HeatherDuncanPhotography.com to see the style, here's a recent boudoir post ...totally free, you provide the scenery & your hair/makeup and I'm in! I'll send you an info if you PM me.

    I'm also a Calligrapher...so if anyone has invitations 50-75 I'd be willing to help on those...maybe only one bride though, I attached 2 pics of samples...I've done a zillion weddings and even used to get hired by Giorgio Armani for their calligraphy when I lived in NYC :)

    ANYWAY, I'd be much more interested in doing some free shoots while I'm home..(I live in the Philippines)

    OMG Heather!!!!  Will you do a shoot for me?  That would be SUCH a huge help, as I want to do one for FI, but the good budoir photographers down here cost an arm and a leg!

    OMFG, I might freak out if you say yes!  And maybe if any other brides are interested in doing one on the same day, we can split the cost of the room. :)

    OMG your calligraphy is AMAZING!!!  when will you be back again??  lol I'd love to use you for my calligraphy (or even just for the escort cards) but I probably won't have a definite list for a while --- possibly a list for invites by august, but def not for escort cards :(  let me know what your schedule is like for visiting the states!!!  or if you could ship them I could pay the shipping if it's not outrageous!  hmmm...   Maybe PM me???  thanks!!

    I am willing to do this also! I can't offer any special crafts but I will provide my time to help assemble stuff :) lol

    And Heather, your caligraphy is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You may need to do a contest to see what Knottie wins this lol

    I love this idea! I don't have a specific "talent" but I'm great at organizing (and being bossy-- maybe I was a wedding planner in a different life! Haha) and am happy to help anyone with DIY projects. I can sit and assemble anything. :) I'm in Palm Beach county, for the record.

    Wow this is a great idea.  I am definately not crafty.  But I can help assemble things.  So far the only this we have done for our diy were our table number luminaries and invitations which were both easy. Heather I think I might want to do a shoot also.  You guys let me know.  By the way I live in Boynton Beach.

    I missed this, till Heather mentioned it in her b-pics post. I'm somewhat crafty, but I'm a control freak (hence why I'm crafty - I want to do everything myself to make sure it's just how I like it), so I would get nervous crafting things for others in case they didn't like it, but I can help assemble things/give ideas for how to put together DIY stuff/help with putting the DIY stuff together.

    Umm, am I an idiot for forgetting to put what I'm good in?

    I'm really good at baking and decorating (cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc.), so if anybody needs any edible goods or favors (within reason), I'd be happy to put my skills to use so long as you're covering the costs of the ingredients

    And of course, assembling!

    So here's an idea.  Let's put an indicator in our signatures, so we know which Knotties are willing to help, and what they can/will do.  I'm thinking something like :

    "Work Exchange:  Broward Knottie.  Assembling and baking."
