How many months in advance did you sign a contract with your florist?

My wedding is going to take place 11-04-11 and i already have the church, reception site and photographer booked. i just wanted to know how far in advance did everyone sign their contract with their florist? I honestly don't want to spend too much on flowers so i was hoping the i could met Gill Sosa. Everyone talks so good about him.

I'm having my first floral meeting this Saturday, so I'm guesstimating I won't concrete any contracts before March. I did hear that 6 months to 4 months is a good time frame, though.

I booked mine about 9 -10 months out. That is b/c I currently live out of the country and was able to meet people when I came home during certain times.

Some sign it way in advance but others 3 months in advance. The florist was the absolute most difficult vendor for me so I didn't sign until about 3-4 months out

i am obviously planning everything way in advance however, my only fear is that i give a deposit and the florist goes out of business. This might be a stupid question but does Gill Sosa have a office. I called him once and it came across to be that he has no staff and possibly works from home.

Gil does work from home - I met with him about a month ago. He is pretty established though, so if you want to at least meet with him, I don't think it can hurt. It doesn't seem like he will be going out of business any time soon!

I signed 8 months out but I had contacted them and met with them already prior.

Floral was the last major vendor I booked and I took a REALLY long time to book one. We met with 9 different florists before chosing.

I think we booked her about 5 months out.. maybe even 4.

I booked my original florist 1 year out but then had to change our date and he was no longer avaialable...and only booked the new florist until i was 5 months out.

I booked 9 months out but was meeting with different florists for months before then. Definitely go to as many vendors as you would like to see. You dont want to have flower remorse later b/c of design/cost, etc.
