is davids bridal alterations really that bad?

lately i have read about many horror stories about david's bridal alterations.. are they really that bad? I bought a dress that didnt really need to be altered, just needed to loose a few lbs to zip it up all the way. (wedding is not till march 2011), but god forbid i need to get it altered, and all i have heard are horror stories!!

It's definitley not great. I'm sure there are ok stories too, but IMO if you hear that many BAD reviews... you should stay far FAR away from someone or someplace!
Sorry if that is not what you want to hear. But there is always Reina and I am sure there are other great seamstresses out there, but i haven't heard of any.

I bought from DB and brought my dress somewhere else to get altered.  I've heard too many crazy stories about the alterations not being right or dresses being mixed up.

I bought my dress and had it altered by Davids bridals in Coral Gables.  The first woman who helped me seemed to have done a fine job on my dress straps.  They were simply too long (she also built my bustle which looks good) however the problem there is they go through seamstresses like toilet paper and they couldnt care less about you, your dress or your day.  I went last week to pick up my dress and the hem was awful, puckered and uneven.  The straps which had been done well but too long were redone in the most god awful way that I dont know yet if my dress will be acceptable on my wedding day in two weeks.  I may still need to take it somewhere else to keep trying to fix it after I already paid DB 300 bucks to alter it.  DONT DO THIS TO YOURSELF.   I felt the alterations I needed were simople and the ladies there should be able to handle it.  I'm sure (like the first lady to touch my dress) they have capable alterations employees there but not all of them and you dont know who will be touching your dress.

Please do youself the favor of finding another person to alter your dress.  It isnt worth putting yourself in this situation.  I have two weeks to go and might have to literally buy another dress and try and have it altered in one week....... not fun...... They charge the same or even more than anyone else.  Use Reina..... I may be there this weekend myself.  IF you see a crying bundle of satin there... thats me....
