Marriott Biscayne Bay altered my wedding venue with only one disappointing option - my original choi

I have been planning my wedding for over a year and the first thing I chose was my venue to ensure I would have a memorable location - being promised a modern ballroom overlooking the bay. My wedding is only several months away now and I was just recently informed that the ballroom was remodeled to a much smaller size. I was given the options of a refund or upgrades – these still requiring a deposit $20,000 upfront, and with my wedding being so close I have been unsuccessful in securing an alternate wedding venue with such short notice with the same prices.

Dealing with the Marriot has been exceedingly difficult and disappointing and I will now also be spending one of the most memorable days of my life in a shoddy, windowless room.
I offer this advice to any future brides in search of a wedding venue – under no circumstances should you select this one.

Here here!!  I tried booking them, and they never once got back to me, despite me actually going there and meeting with them personally, and then calling them to follow up.  No call backs.  Not once.  They clearly didn't want my business.

That is terrible.  I pray you will find a venue within this short time frame.  cant believe they wouldnt give you a free upgrade since it was their mistake.

OMG that is awful.  A similiar situation happened with me at the venue I choosed.  But everything worked out in the end because we had a contract and once you have a signed contract.  You can't break any parts of the terms of the contract unless both parties agree to it.  I hope they are giving you some sort of money back for these last minute changes.   Sorry that this is happening to you..

Have you threatend to call the Better Business Bureau? On the few occasions when I've made a complaint and not had a company respond in a satisfactory manner, threatening to call the BBB always gets them moving. Oh, and if they don't respond, then actually follow through with your complaint! HTH!

Wow, so sorry to hear what you are going through!  I'm looking for wedding venues right now and will definitely steer clear from this one!  I hope you can find one soon.  When are you getting married?  Perhaps planning your wedding on a Friday or Sunday would help?

I am SO sorry this has happened.   This really should be posted monthly to warn other brides.

I hope you find an alternative venue soon.  Best of luck!

I thought they were going to make their new ballroom bigger than their other ballrooms? Sorry this is happening to you. I also think if anything is in the contract, they have to be responsible for doing what they agreed to.
