So many of you might remember my review from our cake tasting with We Take The Cake (on April 9th)
This company comes with our hotel package as does another bakery.
To sum it up...the appointment was terrible...
-we got lost, called the bakery to help us out, we were 8 minutes late.
-lady told us the 1pm appointment was late, so they would be sharing our meeting with us
-because of that, NONE of our questions were answered
-half the flavors were not available to taste
-towards the top of the hour, she said we had to leave because her 3pm appointment was waiting and they were on time
That was Friday, April 9th
That following Monday, the same lady called me to apologize, which I really did respect...and asked us to come back for a second try. I accepted.
She took all the flavors down we wanted to try, and we were all set for Friday, April 23rd at 3pm.
Well...the appointment exceeded my expectations!
She apologized again and we had her undivided attention for the full hour. Turns out some of the questions I asked her, that she said yes to...was actually no. That bothered me, because what she was saying yes to was included in the package so I was happy..only to be disappointed because its actually an upgrade.
seems a buttercream is included in the package. If we wanted fondant it was $9pp....wow..that is ridiculous, so we knew from day 1 we would not be having fondant. We weren't upset. What did upset me was she said I could have crystal banding along the bottom layers of each tier on the butter cream. Today, that wasn't the case...only fondant will hold the banding...so I said okay, and moved on from my dream. She offered me fondant ribbon for free...i took it.
She excused herself and came back a few minutes later and informed us that they have decided to include the fondant in our cake!!! holy #$^$#...that's awesome! so, so, so unexpected. That was really nice of her.
The cake includes round, but I wanted square, but that was an upgrade.
We were able to negotiate our price of that by doing two square and two round layers for the 4-tier cake. 50% off the upgrade price.
AND they gave us the texture design on the round tiers for FREE (normally an upgrade)
so overall, today was an amazing experience, and they didn't have to offer us the free upgrades, but it goes to show that they know when they make mistakes and know how to keep their customers.
I didn't complain to the company about my experience, I was really going to brush it off...but I respected that they called me to apologize.
