How many vendors should I check out (on avg)

I'm anxious sometimes to just sign with a vendor I really like without comparing with other vendors.  Simply because, comparing prices and negotiating takes a lot of work.  I'm very rational and never sign wtih anyone on the spot, but I hate the hassle of waiting around - especially because I'm also putting their availability on the line (and my date is a popular one).

I'm especially scared about finding a photographer.  There seem to be thousands out there - all with excellent work.

About how many differnet vendors due you speak to, compare prices, and negotiate with before officially signing.

I'll be honest - after some of your suggestions, I'm really falling for Free Mind Videography.  But besides the $7,500 videography quote I have from Ray Roman, I don't have any other numbers to compare Free Minds work with.  I can keep searching, or I can not waste time and just sign.

My number is 3. Although I went with 4 for the flowers. For the photographer, I went with 2. I just knew. I had a gut feeling. But about 3-4 is good.

See I am going to say go with what you feel is best. I hate hate hate shopping around and if I know I like something I will just go with that. I met with one photographer, granted I researched others and compared prices but I liked his work the best so why meet with others? If you love the videographer and he is in your price range why continue to look?

I went with my gut on my photographer. I looked at a bunch online, got quotes and emails. But finally meeting with my photographer, things just clicked. I just went with my gut for that. Everyting else, I did alot of online and very few meetings in person untill i narrowed it down, to 2. So my number is 2, with alot of online research.

See as many people as you feel fit. But if you keep comparing one vendor to others... then stop looking.

My number is one!!! I've checked out their websites and they have all been recommended by one of the knotties or my GF who's getting married in April. I hate shopping around, so as long as they don't quote me an insane price and I like what they have to offer I'll sign with them on the first meet.

Before my planner, I would just send out a bunch of emails to vendors I might possibly be interested in...then I would find out their rates, and go from there.  That way, I didn't have to waste my time finding out too much more info from vendors that didn't work with my budget.
