Miami Venue Advice...?

Hey All,

So my FI and I have been discussing venue options and we really need some advice for our wedding in April 2012.

We are looking at about 200 guests and I would like to keep the budget between 20-30,000. I havent had the chance to call very many places yet and wanted to know some of your experiences with venues with that capacity and budget. Some of the places I have researched online and love are: Douglas Entrance, Westin Colonnade, Spanish Monastery, Hyatt Coral Gables, Comber Hall, Doral Park, and Westview Country Club.

Do you guys think any of these are possible?? Are there any great places I am missing?

I looked up Comber Hall in Coral Gables and that it is exclusive to Sylvia. Has anyone had their wedding there and worked with her? What were your thoughts?

THANKS GUYS!!! Any advice would be a GREAT Help!

Aly  and David =)

We are having our wedding and reception at the Grove Isle Hotel and Spa. For about 20 guests we are spending 3k for rental of the lower pool terrace and a full reception (apps, meal, champagne toast etc. ) I have been working with Megan, she is great! HTH!

Fairchild Tropical Garden and Art Deco Center are nice too and fit your amount of guests.

I went to 2 fairly large weddings at the Westin Colonnade recently and for what they paid, the food wasn't great!  The venue was nice, but the presentation of the food was pretty sloppy and the food wasn't served very warm.  Not sure if food is super important to you....but that was just my personal experience as a guest!  Also, I know the Westin has pretty strict event miniumums ($).

I've booked the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables for my wedding this November.  My event coordinator, Erika, has been very helpful and worked around our budget and allowed us to create a very personalized menu.  So far so good, but I will post some reviews after the wedding takes place.

    Good luck!

    Another possibility:  The Rusty Pelican.

Villa Woodbine is where I just visited today...it really is beautiful...the ceremony/reception would be outside (though they do offer an add-on clear tent as an option for weather concerns) but there is a covered area for cocktails and two rooms where guests can go inside and sit etc...

Rusty Pelican is a great one though they are closed in the season I am looking for (Fall 2011) ...you should also look at the Coco Plum Women's Club and The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables (my first choice!--BUT they have limitations for sound etc) :(

    Best of luck!!

I went down to Comber Hall to check it out.  It's a cool building with a lot of possibilities, and the man who showed me around said that when they have a wedding, they open up the hall an hour or so before so that potential brides can see all that you can do with it.

I haven't met with Sylvia yet (their packages are fantastically good, but they might not meet our very specific needs).  I haven't found many reviews, though, just one on WeddingWire that said it was excellent.

I think their upper ballroom can do 225 and the lower one close to 300.

My future daughter in law is thinking about the Villa Woodbine as a possible venue for her wedding.  Do you have pictures we might be able to see.  How was your whole experience.  Are they very expensive?  Thanks for your helpSmile
