Guest Book Help!! PIP (a tad lengthy, sorry)

I know that I do NOT want to do the traditional guest book. I was thinking of using an Apothecary jar and providing pieces of paper and pens for the guests to write advice, wishes and notes to us. Then they would put them in the apothecary jars and I would later put them all in an album to keep. For the second jar I would write fortunes on pieces of paper for the guests to grab. (I wanna know honestly) What do you ladies think of this idea?

Which do you like better? The Apothecary jars or Hurricane Vases?

  OR

Or just do one jar or vase and get rid of the whole fortune idea? Undecided
These are the pics I found that gave me this idea:

I like the idea of using the apothecary jars, but I'd get rid of the fortunes idea. Are you giving them fortunes instead of favors? I just don't see why you need to add that (and additional work for you), however, that's just me. If it's something you think your guests will appreciate, then go for it.

I agree- I love the apothecary jar idea but think you could go without the fortune idea.

I only thought of the fortune idea because I saw someone who used the jars for their wedding and they had more than one jar. But now that I'm hearing you girls say no. The whole fortune idea does seem kinda lame and more unneeded work for me. Thanks ladies!! I know I can always count on my knotties.

I totally agree... if you want more then one jar maybe you can put candies..and if you really want fortunes orientaltrading.com sells fortune cookies for weddings... I think if it just has paper in it ppl might not even get what it is... :)

I like the jar idea (I personally like the hurrican vase, but that's just my taste) ... and rather than blank paper (I always have a hard time trying to figure out what to write) you can always do printed papers like below - guests might come up with fun things for you to read...

Ana, those are cute!! Where could I get the bottom one? Do I have a table with the cards on it and when people are done do they put the cards into the vase? Or do I leave the cards on the table at peoples place setting and have someone collect them? I'm not sure which I will do, but I like those cards.

I saw the idea at guestbookstore.com but I think it is to actually buy a whole book like that. I was thinking of just copying the layout on my own on the computer and then just printing on cardstock. I'm not 100% sure about doing it, but if I do, it will be within the next month and then I'd be happy to share if anyone wanted the file.

As for where to place them - I was originally thinking on the table as well, but then figured they may end up getting lost, thrown out, dirty from food etc... On the otherhand, I feel like people would be more willing to write & draw on them while they are comfortably seated at the table rather than having to go up to and stand around at the card table... not sure what to do with that yet
