Courtyard Marriot Coral Gables Room Block

Has anyone used them for room blocks?  Seems like a good deal because they are not requiring my credit card.  Thats a good sign, right?  Anything else I need to be on the look out for before signing this contract?

I didn't sign a contract when I did my room blocks. I got 20 rooms blocked at the Hampton Inn in Wellington. They gave me a discounted rate and told me that if the whole 20 rooms didn't get booked, I would not be held liable for payment. They filled out a paper but I never signed anything. If you do sign the contract, just read ALL the fine print. Make sure you take your time before you sign.

I agree with PP... but we also had a special rate from another hotel and they didn't require a cc. People just needed to mention our name when calling to book.

From what I understand in the contract is that if it doesn't get booked 30 days prior to my wedding, the contract just dissolves.  Is that standard?  Or sound legit?

I'm worried about room blocking because my hotel venue require a credit card and I would be charged for whatever rooms didn't get taken up.

Yes, that sounds legit. You typically have the block for a certain amount of time... usually 2-4 weeks before the wedding.

Yes I had a contract and then if the rooms are not filled they release them.

How do you word that on your website?  For example, I'm going to put that we have a room block and to book before Oct in order to lock in the rate.  But lets say only 7 rooms get booked, then the hold releases.  Does the hotel inform the 7 guests they can no longer honor the special rate?  Or am I supposed to tell them?
