Wedding Dress - PIP

Hi all married and to be married knotties!!

Now that my wedding is over, when I see a wedding dress I want to do it all over again. And after talking to my dear Natalie the other day it got me thinking about the one that got away. The dress, not the guy... lol

I loved my wedding dress, I did. But it was a purchase driven by budget. So I was thinking... did you get ur "dream" dress? or did you find something similar in your budget? If you did find ur dream dress (and even if you didn't) and you got the change to have another wedding (same hubby.. or not :-) I kid) what would you pick?

Again, I loved my dress. But this was my #1 and my #2 dress

#1 - Never found out who the designer was or where I could find it

#2 - Jim Hjelm and WAYYYYY out of my budget. But I so love it still

similar one... LOVE!...

But I still loved mine... :-)

Now show me yours. :-)

I found something similar in budget, but then had the neckline changed on it!  I couldn't be happier! :)

Great post, Rosmery! Oh, how we all know of the dream dresses...the ones we searched the stores for. Some of us even tried those dresses on and realized it wasn't for us. I never found any of the dresses below, but I spent a total of 3 minutes in each store scanning the hangers to see if they had lace sleeves. lol I got a lot of funny looks for wanting sleeves and was even shown some old school '80s dresses, but I found "the one" at Coral Gables Bridal. <3

The fronts/tops I feel in love with:

Justin Alexander - the delicacy of top is so sweet.

    Pronovias? - lovely lace

I forgot, but isn't that a dress to walk down the aisle in?! *swoons*

My pretty love, the dress I fell in love with and went rushing to get months later when I knew it would be on sale:

    Christina Wu (w/o a sash)

Can't wait to wear her in 29 days!!! Eeeekkk!!

so beautiful, but it was wayyyyy out of my budget....oh wait...I didn't have a dress budget...lol

This is my dream dress. Jasmine Bridal Style F321.

I haven't gone to check it out yet, and I'm sure it's over the budget, but I loveee it.

At the very beginning of planning I had found these two Pronovias dresses that I was obsessed with, especially the second one.. that dress made my heart melt

When I started actually looking for dresses, I knew these would be out of my budget but I figured I'd search for something similar..

HOWEVER, both Lace dresses and dresses with straps looked Terrible!! on me...

I had not in any way wanted strapless... but those looked the best of course.
So after some 15 or so dresses I found one I loved :)

Essence of Australia D1118 - I had to splurge a little because it was a bit more than what I budgeted but I have not had one regret and can't wait to wear it!!!!!

I had a favorite dress that I had pulled out of magazines and I went to a store 1.5 hours away just to check it out because it was the closest store that carried Essence of Australia:

They didn't have this dress in store so I never saw it outside of this picture. However I saw a friend of mine in a similar style of the same designer and liked it less. I did get to try on a some Essence of Austrlaia dresses (out of my price range) and fell in LOVE with another one I had pulled out of a magazine.

It was $300 over budget but my parents both agreed it was PERFECT and I am so glad the other dress wasn't there...THIS was my dress and it didn't get away :) I got the dress I dreamed about!

I saw this dress online, and it was love at first sight: - Watters Lasara

I tried it on and loved it...except a few things (including the fact that it is WAY WAY out of my budget). My FMIL is making a dress similar to this, though I have changed the things that I didn't love. Hopefully it will turn out to be my dream dress!!!

I want this dress so bad...how bad, you ask?  I cried watching the movie because I really, REALLY want it and know it won't happen.  My budget doesn't include purchasing a $3k dress and then altering the neckline, which is what they did.

I got the dress of my dreams. I decided I didn't want to spend a great deal of my budget on my dress so I decided to rent. I found the dress of my dreams for a fraction of the price and I dont have to worry about the guilt of spending so much money on a dress I will never wear again. Anyone else rent their dress?

.BTW to clarify...the Essense of Australia D118 is the dress i was referring to.... :)
  • I'm looking for the D1118 Essense dress also! Slightly over budget....and it's so hard to find second-hand!
