I don't mean to offend anyone with this post but I just want to let other brides know about my experience today. We went last week to meet with Mike and tour the venue which went very well. He was very personable and accommodating. We put a hold on the date that we wanted and made an appointment to go back today with my parents. Well........Mike wasn't there and we met with Darlene who was less than Darling. She gruffly showed us around, when I asked about something being somewhere else she said well usually we do it this way, and told us that she couldn't bring us outside to show us the ceremony/gazebo area-that when we drove by to leave we would pass it and can see it then. OKAY.....so we sat down to price things out and to see if she could do any better since we are funding it ourselves and wanted to be married there.....please keep in mind we were not asking for much-maybe just a drop in the ceremony price by a hundred or if we gave something back to give us a little more credit ie 2.25 back per person instead of 2. She not only quoted our credits if we gave something back lower than Mike but completely drove us out. She told us flat out that JCC isn't for everyone and that maybe we should look at other places. I told her that she was single handedly crushing my dreams of being married there soley on what she was saying to me compared to what other people have said to us (we saw about 40 venues). She then told us well she can't help us any further so we asked her to keep the hold on until we could come back to talk to Mike(he was off until Tuesday). She said she would put the hold for only one more day and tell Mike to call us. EVERYTHING was an issue. BTW we are getting married on a Sunday so it isn't the popular Saturday night. We left, I was in tears and shock and the place immediately went to the bottom of my list. I expressed this to my fi and parents and my fi (who never ever gets mad-he's very mellow and jokes a lot) said that the only reason why he didn't get up and walk out was because he knew how much I loved the place. I am shocked and disappointed in JCC but am glad it happened because it lead us to our one as we went back to a few of our other "contendors" and booked our venue-BTW this place dropped the ceremony price $300.00 and allowed us in the room that requires a min of 100 with a guarantee of 75 since our Wedding is on a Sunday. They didn't move mountains-they just showed us that they are willing to work with us. SOOOO...I guess our ending is bittersweet :-)
