rice? instead of rice?

So I've been debating the rice issue ... I doubt my venue allows it.

Are you having anyone throw rice?  Birdseed?  Bubbles?

Has anyone ever seen this done or used it?  What did you think?

My mom actually found a bunch at the dollar store (I think they were 4 for $1 - the cute little bottles), and she is going to wrap them in cloth and tie a ribbon around them in our wedding colors, and also I think she had some tiny silk flowers she's planning to glue on.
