Cake and Food Tasting

We finally met with the new person at our venue. I feel sooo much better and I think that I am much happier with them! The first lady seemed kind of shady and the new guy is awesome! Our wedding is in November and we are going to be doing the food tasting in September. I also asked about doing the cake tasting (since it's included in our package). He said that they can bring the cake to us at the hotel during the food tasting. Is this too late to be tasting and picking out the wedding cake? Should I go to the bakery instead to do the cake tasting? The guy said we can do either one. TIA!

Personally, I would go to the cake vendor themselves if you can. It's a lot more one on one attention. I went to my cake vendor on my own. They were at the food tasting also.

What a relief! glad it all worked out in the end!

I have no clue on timeline of tastings, so I shall let the other girls answer that :)

I think september is ok. but i would go to the bakery because they will have more options for u to see or try there.  we're getting married in november also and we did our cake tasting yesterday, but that was only because we need a cake for our baby shower/engagement party next sat, so we got that over with.

September seems about right for the tasting -- we're having ours mid-February and the wedding is April 23.  Since the cake is included in the package, you probably have limited choices available and that's why they can just bring it to the food tasting. I had my cake included in my package as well. Unfortunately, when we went to the cake baker for the tasting she was so indifferent about the fact that we were there. It felt like she didn't care because she knew she was getting paid for it either way. We only had 4 cake flavors and either buttercream or creamcheese frosting to sample. Hopefully yours will be a better experience, but I my point is just that, if you only have a limited selection then it may not matter if you go to the bakery or have them bring the samples to the food tasting.

Our cake vendor told us as long as we had our cake order in a month before the wedding, we'd be fine. So September is good.
