July 2012 Weddings

Would anyone be interested....?

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a book club reading program?  I'm noticed alot of girls here read so I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in one maybe starting in February? (Since Jan. is now 1/2 over)

Here's a poll and lets see what the consensus is...

  • Okay, well if we have enough yes.. I'll find some book titles that might interest people and we can have a vote on which one to read.

  • Yes - I'd prefer something light and fun though. With school, I won't be able to keep up with anything too hardcore and in-depth.

  • I am interested!  I have a goal to read 45 books in 2012.  Right now I am reading The Help.  I am almost done with it and I started it Friday.  Other books on my list for the year include The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl who played with Fire.  Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • I'm reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo right now!
  • I'd be interested.

I was in a book club in the city and the chick running it picked Jane Austen three months in a row. So I stopped participating. She couldn't figure out why her book club kept flopping. ..I say that because she'd get stuck on ONE idea and wouldn't read anything else.

@CM: Don't forget The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest ;)

  • Yes!

This might be a dumb idea, but since someone else suggested something light it might be fun to do something chick lit that's wedding/engagement related?

I'm totally up for ANYTHING though! I love to step outside of my normal book comfort zone :)

  • I would be up for a wedding related book! Although it might be hard to find a well written one.
Im starting the help right now- Im so excited. I havent read a non-school assigned book in years!

Cmhutchison, I just read The Help too! And read the girl with the dragon tattoo and the others two years ago.

My friend gave me this book called 'To the wedding', and it was beautiful, but very sad and not something I'd recommend for this crowd.

I have already read them, but there is a great series that is wedding related by Nora Roberts.  They are called Vision in White, Bed of Roses, Savor the Moment, and Happy Ever After.  It is a fantastic series.

Is Dragon Tattoo hard to get into?  A friend of mine read it and she said it took her a long time to get into it.  The series goes Tattoo, Fire, Hornet's Nest right?

  • The poll won't let me vote - but I'm in Smile

I'm a mystery novel addict (I've read over 20 Agatha Christie books in the past year and a half), so yeah, would love some motivation to branch out a bit.

  • I'm definitely in!! :) Always needing new things to read and branch out from my normal routine.
To everyone reading "the Help" I read it back in September and it was awesome! Just watched the movie though, definitely not as good!!

  • this sounds amazing!!!! i am so in :) i think chick lit/wedding related would be a perfect start
  • OK GREAT! I'll figure out some titles and we'll have a vote for our first read starting Feb.  I'll try to get the poll up today though so everyone has enough time to go out and get the book.

My mom totally bought these for me last year.  I read them all within a month.  The first one was fun, but then they got...predictable. Still a fun read.  I'm so down for a book club, though!  I need new ideas...can it be something not too new, so I can get it at the library and not have to buy it? :)

It was hard for me to get into it. I started it last summer and I wasn't able to keep on reading- I just picked up a different book and never got back to it. I probably should try again since apparently it is good!!

  • I wish.. my "spare reading" time has been over taken by my Master's program. Work full-time, Master's program full-time and planning an out of state wedding... who said this was a good idea?! Tongue Out
