Is Boca Raton too far to travel from Fort Lauderdale?

Hi Ladies!!

I've narrowed my destination down to Fort Lauderdale; and am going next month to make a 1st visit!  We're staying at the Westin Beach Resort; but also considering the Hilton as a top choice (for the ceremony).

We want to have our reception at Maggiano's in Boca Raton.  We will visit the restaurant while in FL next month.  Mapquest says it's about 30 miles; a co-worker of FH told him it's only about 20 minutes away.  Is that too far to travel??? I'd arrange transportation for guests that don't rent cars.

We'll see for ourselves while there next month; but wondering if i should even conisder Maggaino's or just keep my reception search to a localtion closer to where we're staying???  Want to at least look at a few reception choices while we're there.  Thanks!!

Also-does anyone recommend any Fort Lauderdale reception sites for under $120 per person? (Including alochol)

Maggaino's is a great reception site, i know a few people who had it there and loved it. Hilton Marina in Ft Lauderdale may be in $120 per person.

I personally do no think its too far to travel, but here in S. Florida, I think we are used to driving 20-30 minutes to get places.  Especially if you are going to provide transportation to guests with out cars, you should be fine.

I am having my Rehearsal Dinner at Maggiano's in Boca Raton in October...it was my top choice..and I'm sooo excited!  You will love it there!  How many people are you looking at?

The Hilton Beach/Westin is about 25-30 minutes from Maggiano's, because it takes about 10 minutes to get to the highway from the Beach.  Then another 15-20 minutes on I-95.  Not a big deal, if you don't mind driving.  Maggiano's is actually catering my engagement party.

The Hilton Marina is more than $120 person if you include tax and tip.  It also isn't on the water.  But you can always contact Gaylene (the coordinator) and see if she can work with you for such a small party.  The Doubletree Gallery One is under $120 and is closer to the Hilton Beach/Westin.  They can also offer a ceremony on the intracoastal waterway, if you don't mind not having it on the beach.

If you are interested in a restaurant for a private reception, you can also check out Trulucks and Capital Grille, which are close by the Fort Lauderdale beach.

Thanks ladies!!!  Great suggestions!! I feel better now about having the reception at Maggiano's.  Now i have a better understanding of the distance between the two.

We'll make our final decision in person when we make the trip down to Florida next month!

I went to a wedding at Maggiano's and the food was incredible!! I think the biggest issue would be transportation for out-of-towners, but since you're providing them a way to get there it shouldn't be a big deal.
