What areas have you been looking for a house in?

I have one right now in NY and FI just bought an investment property up here, but I'm finally succeeding in convincing FI to move back to Florida... so we're starting the search in Palm Beach County.  I'm sooo excited!  Where are you girls looking?

We can't find anything! We've put 3 bids on houses. 2 out of the 3 didn't work out. We're waiting on 1 and it doesn't look like it's going to work out.

We've officially looked at 30 houses. 30! I'm tired of the media reporting "now is the time to buy". Hello, we have awesome credit. Great jobs. Money saved up. And nothing.

Those are nice areas! Sorry it's so frustrating! I do not think we are going to buy a house right after we get married. I think we are going to rent first because we are not sure that we are going to be staying in the area.

We're going to start looking into renting. Then continue our house hunting searches.

It took us 10 months of looking at houses 2-3 nights a week, and every Saturday and Sunday until we found ours up here.  We had offers on probably 8 different houses, and the one we really wanted was stolen from under us (the seller's agent must have been paid off to give the house to someone else, we had an accepted offer that was then dropped, and they closed for like $10k less than our offer was...sooooo sketchy!)

I know it sucks now but there will be one out there for you!

if you are looking at foreclosure's they can fall through at anytime. Sometimes is easier to go with a short sale or a person who isnt doing either. They close faster and you don't have to deal with banks making up the number they want

yup... especially if your looking into the foreclosures... my mom just had to go to complain to some head person of some division at a bank because the realtor they had was purposefully not updating listings  even though offers were being put in just so that they could make double commissions on either selling it to their own clients or selling it to a coworker/friend who was in on the deal. Apparently its happening a lot.

FI works for foreclosure lawyers. I've been hearing all about foreclosures. We've bid on a short sale, regular sale, and foreclosure. I'm beginning to think it's not worth it right now.

My fiance and I bought a house recently in Cooper City. I never thought I'd buy a house with someone before marrying them, but we knew we wanted to get married and the housing market was good. It took a while to find it, but it was worth it!

We have been also looking since around Sept and we found the perfect place for us. We went with Wells Fargo and the mortgage broker was horrible to deal with and after all the back and forth for 3 months they denied us! Then my friend who just bought a house this past year recommended us to her mortgage broker and after 2 wks we will be closing this Thursday God willing! If you are having issues getting approved I will forward you her information and give her a try. If you're interested email me at cramo003@fiu.edu

FI and I bought our house about 3 months ago (wow, I didn't realize we have been here that long!  It's a mess b/c he has finally gotten around to finish painting the inside).

We tried to buy a year before that in the Deerfield area, and we had two offers fall through.  Everything that was a decent place and a decent price was snatched up within days.  It was crazy and frustrating, and we just ended up renting... which turned out to be a good thing, b/c the area we were looking was the school district where the kid was set on fire and the girl was kicked in the head.  I wanted to settle in the house where we will raise a family, so I'm relieved those houses didn't work out.

Hang in there girls!  Everything happens for a reason, and I absolutely love where we ended up... it is 100 times better than what we were looking at before.

Oh, and if you are on a timeline to move (lease ending, etc.), be careful with foreclosures and short sales.  They can take months... and sometimes over a year.
