Can I DIY this?

I love love this idea! And it goes perfectly with my feel, lots of pomanders everywhere. To do this with real flowers will cost me a fortune so I was wondering do you think its possible to do this myself with fake flowers? Would fake flowers be weird? Any suggestions? I'm thinking about buying supplies for one and seeing how long doing one will take (since I'll need like 70 or something by the end)

I wouldn't see why not. But it looks like it will be a tough project.

When can I buy fake flowers and styrofoam balls to test this out? Joann's? Dollar store?

Check Save - On Crafts. They might not have exactly this, but maybe mini. moss balls is a good alternative and won't be such a tough project:

As someone who is doing major DIY, this will take you a long time to glue flowers on styrofoam balls.  Definitely look at the saveoncrafts. com alternatives you posted.  Michaels also has a topiary place card holder that you might want to look into - not the same thing, but similar.

After some research I can't even find cute pompom mums like the ones pictured (they all look too big!) so these are my two options let me know what you think. Both have to be spray painted white as green is not one of my colors.

This will stay attached to each other so people will only take their escort cards:

    Or

Thse may look more like the inspiration but I hope the paint would come out ok:

I'm not too sure spray painting those balls would look good. The material they're made of just looks like the paint wouldn't take well. I dunno. Maybe just buy one and test it.
