need advice - I'm sad - videographer

Back in September, I was set to sign a contract with a videographer...I attended a bridal show and ended up winning a video package worth $1,000 with another videographer, so I looked at his work, and the two videos he showed me, I liked, so I signed with him.  Now, he has more videos posted and I hate them!  They just look like a home video...its terrible.

Our wedding is 7 months away...I'm not sure if I should just cancel with him and hope I get some of my $600 deposit back or just talk with him and really explain what I am looking for.

    Tough spot, and this is one of those situations in which you don't want to regret any decisions. So go with your gut. Have a talk with him and if you feel he can accomplish to make your vision come true, stick with him. If you have doubts and it's stressing you out, I say walk.

    The thing very few brides know is that everything is negotiable. Good luck!

    Thats a toughie..I had that happen with my photog/videographer combo. I called to talk to him and he was basically like thats my work take it or leave it...So I left it and my $700 with him. I would try to talk to him and see if hes receptive. If hes not then you have your answerr..your video is what you will have for life! GL

    I agree - try and talk to him.  But if your gut says walk.... walk......

    If you dont like his work and really don't want to use him then just reason with him and say that as you get closer to the wedding, its not something you can afford in your budget, would he please refund your deposit? 

    If not, then tell him what style of his you liked. I'm sure everything will work out just fine, don't worry!

    I agree with PPs, definitely try and talk before you lose your money. I like Jillian's idea of telling him it's really just not in your budget, and see what he says. A lot of vendors really are understanding and most are willing to negotiate. 

    But, if you aren't happy with things after the talk, definitely walk. You don't want to regret this.
