Videography: worth it or not? Married Knotties what do you think?

We are debating on videography and we are both on the fence about especially because of the large investment it requires.

What you all think? Is it worth it? Waste of money?

Married brides who didn't have video, do you regret it?

Re: Videography: worth it or not? Married Knotties what do you think?

  • I was debating this myself so I asked my FI sister she has been married for 5 yrs now so she invited me and my FI over to watch her wedding tape and boy I tell u we laughed and cried it was beatiful and his family and my family are crazy and I don't think photos will catch those moments and that made up my mind she advised that her and her husband watch that tape everytime they get in a rutt and it brings them out of it everytime....so I'm doing it I want to salvage those memories
  • As a recently married knottie, I wholeheartedly agree that video is worth it. Think about it, you NEVER hear someone say, "man, we have this wedding video, I wish we would have saved the money," whereas I have DEFINITELY heard friends who have regrets for not getting it done.

I LOVED my wedding pictures (Travis Harris!!), but there is really something to be said about seeing and hearing your vows again and really SEEING your ceremony and party. We used Reinhardt Productions and I can not say enough good things about him. We seriously laughed and cried as we watched our video, and really re-lived our wedding. We are so thankful to always have this to reminise.

Here's our recap, just a small piece of the whole video that we received:

  • Yes, it's worth it! We've been married 13+ years now and not only is is beautiful to look back on that day, we get to remember family members who are no longer with us and our children, now 8 and 11 got a real kick seeing mommy and daddy get married.  We take tons of video of our kids, too and it's really fun to look back at the old films. You can't get the time back.  You'll never regret havcing video, even if it's just a basic package.
  • I'm not married yet but I was in the same position regarding video until recently. FI was a bit hesistant because we didn't account this detail in our wedding budget but after seeing video after countless video....he told he wanted to capture our wedding on film and see it as the years pass by! We were fortunate to find a great vendor in Orlando to film our video who will be booking soon.

  • I am only 25 days married and haven't seen the video yet but SO glad I did it. Everyone says that the day goes by in a blur and so to have that as a "backup" in case you can't remember what was said is so great. That being said I focused really hard during the ceremony so I would remember things said but knowing there were cameras also concentrating on us helped me relax and enjoy the moments more! So I would say try to make it work.

Suggestion for lower cost: Contact the arts department of a local university or college, sometimes students will want something like this for their portfolio and will do an awesome job because it's new for them. Granted you are taking a bit of a chance but it might be worth it and will cost a whole lot less! GL!

Who did you go with? I have read your suggestion before on a wedding magazine but it is taking a big risk. I think I will explore the option and it doesn't hurt at all to check. Thanks!

  • i just got married (2 months ago today) and should have my trailer next week. im sooo glad i did video. they were there from start to finsih so i will get to relive the actual moments not just a picture of a split second. plus just something else to consider if your photog misses a moment, your videog can always extract still shots from the video for you ;)

my bffs who have also recently gotten married agree that it was well worth the budget extension. they see the pictures more often (on their wall or on their coffee table) but watching the video is really where they get the full experience all over again!!

my videogs were great and very affordable and super willing to work with you to create the package that is exactly what you want. andy @ concept lounge creations.
  • As another recently married knottie, Video is worth the expense.  The only thing that lasts forever from your wedding, besides the commitment, is the pictures and video.

    Here is my trailer.  http://vimeo.com/41956223

P.S.  We watched our video again the other day, and i STILL cried during the ceremony!

    Hope this helps!

I'm so happy we splurged on the videography.  You hear it but it's so true that the day vanishes in a blur.  There were details I noticed later in the video that I didn't even see the day of.  So worth it!!
