Renassaince at the the Gables

Hey ladies..
I'm looking into having the ceremony/reception at the Rennassaince ballrooms--at the gables. Prices look rock bottom cheap..im liking that. Does anyone have any experience with this place? is it nice? what comment do you have about it?

I had my reception there last year. I had three weeks to look for a new venue because there was a mixup with the booking of my hall's church. Three weeks. lol Imagine how insane it was. So I didn't get to visit the venue until my wedding day! Crazy! My FI, now husband, went to put the deposit.

The staff is very nice and helpful. The venue is very pretty, we had our reception in the ballroom upstairs. Our food/chicken was a little cold. We paid an additional amount for purple uplights and on the day of my wedding, they were amber colored. They told my DOCs that they were certain it was amber. (I'm pretty sure they put amber because of the wedding that was right after mine). So that was a disappointment.

I would say don't be afraid to negotiate with them. They said it was normal for them to have a valet attendant and for guests to be required to pay and we told them we didn't want that so they said they wouldn't have the valet company come until the next wedding. A lot of what they said sounded fishy and they very much say things to you to make you feel like they are doing you a favor. I can see right through that, and they did the same to me at the other Renaissance location when I checked it out months before. but I had very little options with three weeks to go and 160 guests to accommodate! lol

So overall, make sure you have everything in writing and that everything you want (chairs, colors, uplights, bar, time, food) is included in the contract you sign, if you do decide to go with this venue.

i agree make sure every little detail is on..my bff had her wedding (ceremony where fountain is downstairs and reception upstairs)... there and a few things, like the food, were wrong..also they set up something that she didnt want..sure no one  knew or would have notice but still you want what you paid for :) ..i had a bad experince with the other location where they told me deposit was $500 and then called and told me i had to give them another $500 before x amount of days and thats not what we had agreed on...pretty much i was out $500 cause i didnt have it all writing in details when i went the first time....but not a bad place all in all GL!
