Getting married in a Catholic Church...Question on Preparation

Hey everyone!
I met with our priest yesterday at St. Patricks and I have some questions...
Is there a new rule now that you have to attend both the Life Skills (Engaged Encounter) and Sacrementality Day??? I thought there was only 1 we had to attend!!

and 2
Has anyone taken the Natural Family Planning Course that they made you take? It's 3 SATURDAYS! Is there anyway to go around this??

PLEASEE help lol

Thanks!

My FI and I just took Engaged Encounter in December. I read somewhere here on the board that as of Jan 2011, it is now required to take both but I'm not sure.

As for the NFP, that was not required by our Church. In the Engaged Encounter course they briefly go over it and they have speakers who practiced it but they did mention that there is a course for those who were interested. This is not required by the Archdiocese. Our church just had us do Pre Cana and Engaged Encounter.

I suggest you call the Family Enrichment Center for more info.

Agree with PP. We only attended one course (I think we may have just gotten under the radar as far as the 2 course requirement since we enrolled last year and the encounter was last month). They did discuss the NFP stuff but just gave us a schedule of when we can attend NFP classes if we are interested. In addition, we had to meet with a couple from the church for our FOCCUS questionnaire. After that, we were declared "done" and won't be having any futher meetings or anything until the rehearsal.

I booked my church last year, and they always said it was a 2 day thing.

We are actually in the processes of booking it now.

I met with my Priest like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I asked him about the two classes because on the website I saw that there was the Sacramentality class and the Life Skills Class. I asked him which one we needed to sign up for and he said that it didn't matter, as long as we picked one. I think the Life Skills/Engaged Encounter Class includes the Sacramentality. But I am not totally sure. We are signing up for that class, because that is the one that our Priest said to sign up for! I have been meaning to call the Diocese, just to make sure I am signing up for the right thing. HTH!

I called and they said that as of 2011 now the 2 classes are going to be required.  I sent my deposit last year so they were able to wave the requirement for my wedding.  THe deacon only mentioned the engaged encouter in our first meeting last year so i think it is a little grey area right now since it is a new rule.  I would call and ask the Family Enrichment Center.
