Dress Question Poll

I've been thinking about my dress (I have my first fitting on Weds). I'm always a little hesitant with my dress because it is not what I expected to wear. I was torn between two dresses (one was what was in my head of what represented who I was and the one that I picked was waay out of my comfort zone!) I expected Satin modern ball gown, I got tule-ish mermaid!

Which made me think did you end up with the dress that you always envisioned? Or completely different?

    Krista,

I was totally expecting a lace number; got a mermaid with ruffles instead. :)

My dress is not what I expected. I wanted a princess-y, blinged out, satin ballgown a la Cinderella! I got a ruffled, chiffon, slightly off beat, fit and flare! I doubted my dress decision and went to try other dresses on after ordering my dress. I was so relieved when I realized that my dress looked amazing on and really is much more "me". I was worried about trying on more dresses for fear I'd fall in love with a new one but instead it just solidified my love for my dress!

</div><div>I did something similar! I spent months trying on dresses trying to beat my ::twice the budget:: <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif" border="0" alt="Surprised" title="Surprised" /> dress! When I tried it on the first time I was pretty certain I would hate it but its definitely beautiful! I just hope I still love it on Wednessday!

You will, Krista!  I was having second thoughts months ago, too.  It's natural. :)

I envisioned a clean cut satin or organza Vera Wang gown. I've always said I would wear Vera on my wedding day and as soon as I got engaged off I went trying and trying and I hated every one of her dresses....they were too sweet and plain so while I never thought my dress would be the one I would buy I felt so pretty in it I just couldn't imagine wearing anything else.

The reason I got exactly what I expected is because I knew my style and I didn't bother trying anything else on.  Everyone who has seen my dress has agreed that it is completely me.  Who knows what would have happened had I gone outside my comfort zone.

I got what I ha always pictured myself in - a huge blingy princess gown.  I came so close to being swayed into something a little more classy and mature and I am so glad I ended up going with what I pictured because I just love love love my dress.  Everyone who sees it says it looks just like what they would picture me in.
