Heads up for late Feb brides (sort of long)

Hi Ladies,

I'm not sure if any of you are 2/2011 brides ( i am a 2/26/2011 bride) and I didnt find out until this weekend that we of course chose the food and wine festival week for our wedding. Not sure if you ladies are familiar with this event but it is a HUGE deal down here. South Beach gets inundated with all the famous chefs.

I of course didnt find this out till yesterday when My fiance and I went to meet with the coordinator at Parrot Jungle. There is an event there planned for that day with Rachel Ray and Bobby Flay and they are estimating anywhere from 2-3000 people. We quickly scratched that and everything at the beach off of our list.

Also if you ARE a feb bride and your wedding IS that week and you have out of towners, start booking hotels now if you havent already.  The hotels all jack up their rates and things get booked quickly!

Also, I didn't realize this, but apparently hotels also sell out for President's Day.  I'm getting married on the 19th and all of the hotels have jacked up their prices.  I guess some of the Northern states get President's Day off still (I don't and I work for the state) and they flock down here.

When I started looking at booking hotels for my daughter's 2/26/11 wedding and very few beach hotels were available, I remembered about this festival. We ended up booking a block of 1 and 2 bedroom suite rooms out by the airport for a very reasonable price. I then tried hotelplanner.com and found a few beach hotels with rooms- minimum $200/night.  After checking with our out of town guests, most preferred the suite rooms since they were getting alot of amenities at a much lower price (Thurs night appetizers, free daily breakfast, free shuttle to attractions within 5 miles, free grocery delivery, etc) and they all liked everyone being in the same hotel.
I am also looking into renting a shuttle bus to transport our guests since traffic will most likely be a nightmare. Her wedding is in downtown MIami and the reception at Miami Beach Botanical Gardens.
