Key West Brides - vendor help please!

I'm deciding on a photographer and a florist and I can't make up my mind.  Does anyone have any experience working with Blueye Images or Bernadette McCall?

Also, the three main florists seem to be Mama's Flowers, Milan Event, and Love in Bloom.

Any reviews would be appreciated!

I can't personally recommend any of these, but I found these lists of vendors that other Key West brides described as who they are using for all areas of thier weddings. They all said that these vendors were great. Hopefully, this helps with some ideas.

The problem is there just aren't that many Key West brides, so I'm not sure you'll find anyone to help! I'm getting married in Islamorada, but I'm bringing in everything from Miami, which might not be possible if you're all the way down in Key West. BUT I can say that it might be worth looking into the possibility of finding vendors who will travel, as the Keys tend to be very marked up and not have many options. (I kept finding AWFUL photographers who charged a TON when I was looking for a Keys photographer). I hope that helps somewhat.

I am getting married in Key West on July 23, 2011 and these are my vendors:

    Wedding Planner:  Swankey Events
Venue: Key West United Methodist Church
    Rehearsal Dinner: Margaritaville
    Transportation to/from Reception: Conch Train
    Hair/Makeup: Studio Marie-Pierre
Reception: Hyatt Key West Resort & Spa
    Cake: Key West Cakes
    Flowers: Milan Event Florals
DJ: DJ Jimmy V (or DJ JimmyJamz, goes by both)
    Post-Wedding Brunch: Croissants de France

Although I haven't had my wedding yet, I'd be happy to share any experiences I've had so far with these vendors!  Let me know. :)

    I'm a key west bride!

My wedding is Novemeber 5th at the Marriot Beachside.

I'm using Mama's Flowers for the flowers. I had appointments with Peter Milan from Milan Events, but he blew off our appointment twice and to be honest, it left a funny taste in my mouth. Dayna from Mama's flowers knew excactly what my vision for the wedding and was really willing to help us stay on budget.

Here's the breakdown of everything else:

    Rehersal Dinner: TBA
    Church: St. Mary's
    Reception: Marriott Beachside
    Flowers: Mama's Flowers
    Cake: Key West Cakes
DJ: driving down from Ft. Lauderdale
Photographers: Driving down from Ft. Lauderdale
Chair rentals: Hitched Events (cheaper than ordering in Key West!)

I was actually hunting for a hair/makeup person when i came across this post!

Kelly - I messaged Marie Pierre but thought $230 for the day of and then another $230 for a trial was a bit much. Were you able to get a cheaper trial run?

I decided on Mama Flowers and Rick Fatica photography.  Now on to cake recommendations.  I can't do a tasting which freaks me out.  Why did you guys choose Key West Cakes vs Cakes by Karol?

We wandered in with no appointment to check out Key West Cakes, just to talk to them while we were down there for a separate matter. They were so helpful and eager that I just didn't feel the need to find any other place. They gave us a rough price quote and it worked with our budget so it was kind of a  "Why fix it if it isn't broken" moment for us. We had initially wanted an appointment with Carol but she was closed or too busy the day we went looking. So it just worked out that way.

We did go back for the cake tasting and it was DELICIOUS! It was a toss up between the red velvet and the key lime mouse with white cake. We ended up going with red velvet tho.

We found Key West Cakes through our wedding planner, and they set up a full tasting for us.  We tasted at least a dozen flavors of cake, 6 fillings, and 6 icings... it was all delicious and we had a very difficult time selecting which to order.  They also showed us a very extensive photo book of previous wedding cakes, so we could use it for inspiration or see their work.  It convinced me that they have their act together and will do a great job with the wedding cake.   The wedding is in 5 days and I can't wait to taste my key lime cake/key lime mousse/buttercream icing wedding cake from KW Cakes!
