Newbie...Parkland Golf &CC?

Hey girls! My name is Kristen, I'm new to the board! I've been lurking for a while, and you all seem great and very helpful.  I'm just starting to plan now... I live in Tallahassee but am planning a South Florida wedding because I am from Coral Springs.

I'm on the hunt for venues, has anyone been to a wedding or heard anything positive or negative about Parkland Golf and Country Club?

Thanks!!!

Hi! I know nothing about Parkland Golf and CC but I wanted to say hi. I live in Tallahassee too and am planning a Miami wedding because that's where I grew up (my parents still live there).

I recently went to look there. The outdoor ceremony part is absolutely beautiful! However, the ballroom was disappointing and dated and there was no real back up plan in case of inclement weather.

Welcome!   I visited the Parkland CC and strongly considered it, some pros and cons:

Pros: The coordinator, Karen, really knows her stuff.  I learned bunches about weddings from spending an hour with her.

The outdoor part of the venue is gorgeous.  Ton of places around the CC to take some amazing pictures before/after the ceremony.

She was willing to be flexible with minimums, depending on your date (I was looking at Sunday of Memorial Day wknd and she was open to giving a lower minimum).

Cons:  The ballroom space is dated, as someone said above, and if you had to have your ceremony indoors, you'd want some kind of pipe and drape to make it look nice.  I'd want a florist/decor person that I was confident could dress up the space a little.

If you are looking at CCs in north Broward/ south Palm Beach counties, then I recommend my venue, the Hamlet CC.  They are in the same price range as the Parkland CC, but they have a modern, Asian-influenced look instead of the Tuscan style.

Hi Kristen! Congrats & welcome to the board! I'm getting married at Parkland Golf & country club in April. The ceremony space is beautiful and the gardens they have at the front of the community are amazing for pics. The inside ballroom isn't anything special and was originally my one reason for not wanting to book there. It's not old, because the club was built not too long ago, but it's just plain-jane, typical ballroom so it's not that it's bad, just nothing special. Also, they do not have a bridal suite to get ready in. For us it didn't matter because we are going to be getting ready at the hotel anyways.
The Event coordinator there, Karen, is very detail-oriented and friendly and she was one of the main reasons I did book the place.
Their prices are fairly reasonable, however, they did just change ownership so I'm not sure if the prices, menus, etc have or will be changing.
It definitely has its pros and cons but for me, the ceremony space and photo ops were important and the price was more reasonable than what I was finding at beach hotels so that was why I chose it (now I just hope it doesn't rain, lol)
Hope this helps... let me know if you need any other info :)

By the way, I'm from Coral Springs too - what HS did you go to?
