Timeline for all the events for the BIG Day!!!!

Hello Ladies..November is going to be here soon ..Its time for the finicky details.I was wondering what your time lines are for the day! i.e.When your going to start getting ready.. timeline for picturesFor the reception:The time line if any for all the events.(cake cutting, first dance, garter toss..etc.etc..)my ceremony starts at 3, cocktails at 6 and dinner at 7.30.That's all that I have for the timeline..Yikessss!!!Any help, tips are very much appreciated.ThanksR

Are you having a Catholic wedding? and how far is your venue from the church?

That's a HUGE gap. I'd be concerned about that.Are you doing pics before the wedding? Do you have appointments for makeup, hair, and nails? Will you be doing pics of getting dressed? Do you know where you'll be getting dressed? How long do you have the photographer for? What about a limo? That will definitely help you piece together what time and how long you have to do things. As far as cake cutting, some people like to do it during, or even before dinner, so the cake can be taken away and cut by the time dessert rolls around. Some people like to do it later in the evening and have the cake sort of signal the end of the reception. You can also check with your caterer and see what would be best for their schedule.Some people do a course of dinner, then dance, then another course, then dance, but that seems awkward to me. I'm not doing a first dance, or garter toss, but it would make sense to me to have cocktail hour, dinner, all those coordinated events, then to just mingle when the scheduled activities are done. Give your DJ/MC a general time line. I'm sure he's done weddings before, so he should run it pretty smoothly.
