Scared about the rain!

Ok so my wedding is exactly a year from Friday, October 16, 2010. I never remember it raining in October. Do you girls? I hope it doesn't rain this time next year! ahhhhhh Thoughts?

Yes, every now and then it rains in October.  But, if you're really worried, go to the Farmer's Almanac (www.almanac.com) and you can look up the weather for your wedding day from past years (I'm talking, like at least 10 years back).  I'm anal like that and did it for my wedding.  Plus, I think you (like me, April wedding--usually sunny, but you never know...) should have a contingency plan--pics of you and FI w/ pretty umbrellas if it decides to rain.  Coming up with ideas like that made me calmer.  HTH!

I remember it raining this early once or twice.Normally I would have no qualms about planning an outdoor wedding, and I did want an outdoor ceremony, but we found a chapel we like and will be having both and indoor ceremony and an indoor reception. My wedding is October 10. My fiance mentioned yesterday that he's glad we did end up going the indoor route.

Last year, I got married {saturday} 10-18-08 and it wsa gorgeous weather all the way up to the wedding, and then some.  This year, obviously the opposite. But it's always hit or miss.Like for Memorial day, 2008. Tons of brides getting married that weekend....always been sunny. and they all got rain. But they still got married (and the sky made for some gorgeous pics) and just made some tiny arrangements to compensate.

I don't remember it raining last year during this time...I think it started to rain in November. But yeah it does rain sometimes a little early. Is your wedding outdoors? You might want to have a plan B. I'm getting married in January and rain is also expected since we live in cali and weather is crazy...but my ceremony and reception will be indoors. GL

Is your reception and ceremony venue indoors?  If either are outside, then you should discuss contingency plans with your venue representatives. Southern California has some of the most beautiful weather in the world, but when planning our reception venues I absolutely would not compromise on having either part of the main events potentially being spoiled by bad weather.Granted FI and I are getting married in April.  But we actually met on a rainy April day. This far ahead in advance, there are lots of ways to plan ahead with contingency plans  Although I wouldn't sweat it too much, 9/10 times the weather will cooperate.  If it doesn't that's where those plans come in.Pretty much any outdoor venue should help you make alternative arrangements if the weather goes south.

Hey we're date twins! I was thinking about the same thing. We're having an outdoor ceremony, so now I'm thinking about contingency plans in the event of rain.  I'll probably discuss this with the site coordinator to see what we can work out in the event of rain. At least to put my nerves at ease. Like the girls said, it really is hit or miss, and chances are that it won't. However it is a good idea to have a back up plan just in case.

Thank you so much ladies for all of your imput! I feel so much better now. I checked the almanac and it looks like there is usually no rain so I am praying for beautiful weather. Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors which is great. I wish all of you beautiful weather on your wedding day :)
