Woodsy venue?

Hi Everyone,I am new to the boards and I am looking for a venue that is in OC or LA that is like a forest or countryside setting.  I do not want to go up to Lake Arrowhead our Santa Barbara, etc.  My FI and I met in Big Sur and we would like a wedding that reflects our love of the outdoors/camping.  Thanks ahead of time for your ideas ;0)

I grew up in Sierra Madre and there is a road that goes up the mountain called Chantry Flats.  At the very top (a coule miles drive) is a trail that leads to Mt Wilson.  My friend got married somewhere along that trail where there was a point that looks out over the LA basin.  It looked beautiful and very woodsy.  Only negative is that it is a National Park so I think you can just have a ceremony there and it doesn't fit that many people.  I'm pretty sure you can't have a party and are probably limited to what you can bring in.  But if that is okay with you, it looks like an amazing place for a ceremony. OTher places to look into are in that same area there is a park called Wilderness PArk in Arcadia, and possibly camp grounds in Angels Crest Nat'l Forest north of La Crescenta.  Hope that gives you some ideas!

What about Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon?

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but maybe you should check out Franklin Canyon Park. They actually have an indoor space for the reception as well. However it is BYO catering and alcohol, which I think is a good thing since you can save money that way and pick whatever caterer you like, instead of being stuck with what is offered. Here's the link from herecomestheguide. http://www.herecomestheguide.com/location/detail/franklin-canyon-park/

I went to a wedding at Calamigos ranch in malibu and it was gorgeous and woodsy.  They have a few different spots to have weddings at and she did one by the waterfall under a huge wooden trellace thingie. lots of big trees too.

oh yea, and it's in Beverly Hills so it's not too far away. It's kind of like a hidden nature-y area in LA. I've been there a couple of times. Very peaceful, but can be hard to find. Definitely call them so they can show you the reception room.

There's also a place near Malibu called Stonebrook Manor or something like that which might work for you, but you have to bring EVERYTHING in yourselves. I'd definitely check out Calamigos.

The LA Arboretum? I know you have to pack everything in, though.Inn of the Seventh Ray is really, really pretty and reasonably priced, I think. They also include a DJ if you go with the big package.
