How do you find a great Reception site??!!!

So my fiance and I are having the hardest time finding a reception site!! In southern CA there are beautiful locations but they also cost an arm and leg!! We are on a tight wedding budget! Does any one know of nice, reliable, reception sites?? Any suggestions?  Thank you!!!

Have you tried  http://www.herecomestheguide.com/  and weddingcompass.com
I'm not sure what your budget is, or what type of reception site you have in mind, but The Castaway and The Odyssey have different packages that fit most budgets. Have you considered a Friday or Sunday wedding? Most places, if not all, offer lower prices if you get married Fri. or Sun.

Also looking into places that allow you to bring in your own caterer, allows you work with your budget.
     Good luck!

www.herecomestheguide.com is great, but I also recommend you get the book Here Comes the Guide Southern California Edition. It is like the bible of LA wedding locations-I didn't even look at any location that wasn't listed in there. It's all broken down by price and lists all the relevant info so it makes it super easy.

Project Wedding .com has been helpful for me.  I looked into a few different options when looking for a site.  I looked at a hotel (California Grand at Downtown Disney).  I looked at a couple golf courses.  I ended up going with the Long Beach Museum of Art which has an ocean view and a historical building within my budget.

If you go to bridal shows that may help you find a venue.  I am going to one in Newport Jan. 31st....I think it is at the Radisson???  That might be a good resource.

    Good Luck!

patreato, I know what you mean!

I'm trying to find a place to just have a reception, you know, some food and booze and dancing, that isn't ugly and doesn't cost loads of money. It seems like every place I find is so expensive that there's no point of just being there for the reception.

We were on a tight budget as well.  After going to at least 30 restaurants and checking them out, I narrowed it down and booked Kriestel Banquet Hall for our wedding.  They have Armenian food, with different appetizers, barbeques, etc. and are very affordable.  You can bargain with them.  They are willing to work with you.

We chose a Friday wedding as everything was less expensive.  The hall can sit up to 250 people but he rented it out to us for 100 people.

    Good luck in your search.
