engagement party more like a bachelorette party suggestions

I'm maid of honor for my friend's wedding NEXT summer. She's recently engaged and wants something NOW to commerate this momentous

occassion. It's not a shower, it's not an engagement party 'cause she wants it more to a be a girl's only kind of thing. I have a few things planned. like having her wear a "finally the bride' t-shirt and going out on the town (http://www.zazzle.com/now_the_bride_t_shirt-235350413530371457) any other ideas helpful!

Why can't she just have a night out with her girls and not have it be wedding related? Then she can have an engagement party to celebrate and announce the engagement. Trust me, she will want to start making her friends feel like friends and not just slaves or adornments to her wedding.

Ditto PPs. A nice little girls' night out would be fun, but I wouldn't make it wedding-related. You can all get together and congratulate her, but skip the t-shirts and whatnot (especially one that says 'finally the bride,' I would be mortified to wear that) because that kind of stuff is for the bachelorette party. And I certainly hope she's not demanding anything this early or you're in for a fun 14 months.
