Hey ladies!!!
I got on the site a little while ago. I was just looking around and looking forward to some day soon post as a newly engaged woman....well...here goes! I am thrilled that the man I call my handsome homie made it official when he came home from Iraq for this break. I haven't seen him in 6 months and we both were in need of a serious vacation! He booked a short cruise and we stayed in the Bahamas for a few days. He had been in some trouble with me when he first got home because I had sent him to Iraq and he came home without any bodily harm, but came home and fell off of his motorcyle, resulting in some ugly road rash on his hands, knees, arms...anywho, at prior to dinner the night of the proposal, we walked on the beach and he proceeded to ask me some deep questions...all of which I answered from my heart. It was too cold on the beach for me so we decided to go to dinner. Dinner was great, of course I ate sooooo much because it was all inclusive ;-) well, it didn't hit me that he asked me the same question several times during dinner (to this day I do not recall the question, because it was a blur) lol. He stared me in my eyes with the most serious look I've ever seen from him and all I recall is him reaching down, pulling out a little red box, opening it, seeing the ring, me freezing in time and staring back at him in complete shock and feeling like I was either going to pass out or lose some of my dinner. He kept saying, "don't pass out, don't pass out" and laughing. He got on the uninjured knee very carefully and asked me to be his wife. It was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just held onto him so tightly, and of course I cried! I am extremely happy, sad because he is leaving to return to Iraq in 2 weeks. We don't live in the same state now (I'm in FL and he's in GA). He has gone back to GA and I am back at work, but without me even announcing my engagement to everyone, I am being told about this "glow" that I now have and I laugh then share the story with them. We came back from the Bahamas and had a gathering at a friends with all of my very close friends present. Although it was already planned, it worked out perfect and we called it an engagement gathering. I am truly blessed and thankful for each and everything that ocurred while on my vacation. Today is day 2 back at work and I am still in awe!!!
