Just Engaged and Proposals

hI I was Nov 2011 Bride, Now I am 7-9-11

I posted about a month ago. I am now getting married 7-9-11.  I am so worried about it being a million degrees haha. Any one have suggestions on summer themes?
How about a hooneymoon location not to hot since July is hot in Delaware/Maryland.

  • You do not need a theme for your wedding.  I don't understand this idea at all.  Pick some colors and go from there.  Decide what makes you comfortable, what you and your FI think would make your guests happy...

    It's really just that simple.
  • You do not need a theme.  Just pick colors you like.  I would also use flowers that are in season.  That alone will provide a summer like feel.

Also, what is your venue like?  Mine was on the beach, so I had an automatic 'theme'.

As far as the honeymoon.  You can always go to the mountains in  upstate NY, New England, Canada.  There are a lot of places.

On another note.  The caribbean is not bad in the summer.   I'm from DE and I can tell you it's warmer there than down here in the summer.  It is surprising, but true.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Definitely, don't do a theme. Your best idea is just to pick bright colors and use in-season flowers. If you want, pick an element to center a few things around (like, we did lovebirds, so our STDs have birds, cake topper, etc) but keep it simple.

As far as a HM, it really depends on your budget. Talk to your FI and decide what type of HM he envisions, and you decide too. Are you beach people? Mountains? Exotic? All-inclusive? Cruise? Check out the HM board, you'll see tons of ideas there.

  • I'm from DE area also, and we're doing an Alaskan cruise after our 8/2011 wedding.  Perfect temps after a hot summer in DE!
  • My fiance and I changed our date from Nov. 2011 to July 2011.  I'm not really worried about the temperature, we'll be inside in the a/c.  I did change my color of my bridesmaids dresses from brown to black and from long to short.  Don't really worry about what makes your guests happy, worry about what makes YOU and your FIANCE happy.  This is yalls day.  Do what you want.  If you want a theme go for it.  :-)
