I'm sorta new here, and I get that "FI" means "Fiance", but why? Is it just because it's the first two letters, or does it stand for something? And if you were to say it out loud, would it be pronounced as it looks, "Fee", or just say the letters, "F-I"? And was it ever DF, much like people use DH for dear husband? Or maybe FH, for future husband (I think this one!)? Forgive me my nerdom, but I was an English minor and the human language is fascinating
