Re: RING ON MY FINGER!!!!

  • See, my advice would be to relax for a bit-- enjoy the engagement for a month or so.  Don;t let the wedding take over your life. :)
  • Congrats! Agree start with budget and just getting an overall idea of what type of wedding you want to have (i.e. formal vs. casual, small or large, etc.) because those things will also effect your budget too.

There are some good articles about getting started at Soulful Engagements.

  • Thank you seabass - I'll be checking those out.

ooo Amoro - you're right.. I need to relax and enjoy. I'll start planning that budget February 1st. :-)

Just remember-- wedding's going to take over your life for the next year or so.  Give your FI some time to get used to this and enjoy it all!  It's a great time. :)
  • Seabass - Did you just recommend your own site?

    Ha! I think she did!!
  • congratulations - I am also newly engaged and excited to start planning but the best advice I have gotten is to enjoy being engaged for a awhile  as it is a special time for the two of you. planning will consume alot of your time soon enough!
  • All great great advice. Thanks so much!

    Happy Planning Jag!

what if she wasn't a "bride of color?" is the info still relevant? if so, why specify "brides of color" on your blog? i'm just not seeing anything on there that would need to be restricted to brides of only certain skin colors.
  • You should also check out the local Detroit board.  All the girls are wonderful and so helpful!

    congratulations!
  • Thanks Emarston

  • Congratulations!!!! That's my hometown! I just moved to GA and I think we're going to do it down here. Don't get overwhelmed.. Hmm.... as everyone suggest budget is a good start. Especially in this economic climate. I am trying to be mindful of the expenses my guests will have to cover.
