Question about grad school (kind of long...)

Hi everyone! I am starting my final semester of undergrad on Monday. Smile I am getting a BA in psychology, and I plan on getting a masters in counseling. With psych degrees, as I'm sure many of you already know, if you want to do anything in psychology (like counseling, which is what I want to do) you need to have a masters or higher. I know there will be plenty of jobs available to me with a BA, but not what I waant to do in the long run.

I'm trying to decide when I want to start grad school, and therefore when to apply and take the GRE. My H went to grad school, and he said that many grad schools do not like to accept new students (or accept fewer) for the spring semester, so I willmost likely take spring '12 off (plus, a break from school woud be nice!) So I'm thinking I might shoot for starting grad school in Fall '12.

However, I am also a newleywed, as you can see from my ticker. So, I'm also considering taking more time off to work and save money. I just don't really want to take that much time off, because I'm kid of on a roll now with school and I don't want to lose my motivation!

I should also point out that my parents have tod me that they will support me if I go to grad school. So they would pay the tuition, and maybe help us out with $$ for awhile provided that I might only be able to work part time, or not at all, Obviously, I dont want to rely too much on my parents, I would like to remain as independant as possible.Smile

My question for all my fellow knottie students is did you go right in to grad school after undergrad, or take time off to work/raise a family/etc. Were you happy with your decision?

Thanks for reading!
