I'm more worried about people's livlihoods being messed up than the beaches being all oily and gross.

I'm worried as well. I don't have a beach wedding but I was planning on that being one of the activities for my out of town guests. Also the lives of those who main source of income comes from the fishing industry. I love seafood and it's going to suck not being able to eat any.

I am worried.  My wedding is in July at Henderson Beach in Destin...what if they close the park?  I am from GA, what on earth can I do as a backup?

I wasn't trying to say that people's lives were not important.

there is no need to panic yet.... it hasn't reached Destin yet. Hopefully it wont. Everyone needs to pray for the people who live there and hope that the effects are mild. They have response teams and hundreds of volunteers waiting!!!

mnrdrv - I'm getting married at The Henderson Park Inn too, but in November! I pray everything will be ok for your wedding day. Are you getting married on the beach or grassy area?

We have reserved a pavillion - so we are getting married on the beach.  I spoke w/Carolyn there, she said they don't have any plans to close the park in case of the oil, so even if the beach area is closed, we will still have a venue.  big relief!!

We checked out the park during the winter, and it is still beautiful, you will have such a pretty wedding!

Thanks MNIDRVR, yours will be beautiful too! Where are you having your reception? Maybe we can exchange vendor info?

well since we live in Atlanta, we reserved the pavillion for the entire day, we are grilling, playing, pretty much having a beach party for close friends and family all day.  Then i will leave to dress, come back at 7:00 and get married. :)
So, no reception in FL, we are having a party in GA two weeks later.  We are both older and this is our second for each of us, so we just wanted casual, fun, happy.  I have honestly had no stress planning this until the oil spill.

Does anyone know of any ceremony sites, other than the beach we could use as a back up?  Our wedding is in July and I'm pretty nervous about relying on the beaches.  All the ceremony venues I have came across include food or accomodations, which we already have planned.  Any ideas?

I got an e-mail from Henderson Park Inn yesterday.  They said they are watching the spill and all the computer forcasts.  They assured us none of the forcasts show the oil getting to Destin beaches.  I hope this is the case, I know it made me feel a lot better.

We are getting married in Ft Walton beach at the Ramada on July 21.  We incredibly sad for the plants, sea life and the many people that will be effected.  We are saying prayers and moving forward with our Beach wedding while keeping in perspective what's imporant.  :)

This website is good for those who to follow the oil spill

Also, anyone familiar with a good photographer, guitar player or hair dresser in the Ft Walton/Destin area.

Much love from Kentucky to all!  Thanks and be blessed.

BS Beach Babe - you have to check out:

www.woodlandfieldsphotography.com for photography. They are a twin sister team and are really talented! If you're looking for something different, these are your girls. Also, one of them got married at The Henderson Inn in Destin and knows the area very well. Give 'em a shout, their rates are pretty reasonable too!

Also, try B-Boy Productions (Google it) for the guitar player:)

    Good Luck!

we are planning on getting married on PCB in October.  it's a place special to both of us seperate and together.  we have considered other places out of fear of the oil spill but i think if (God forbid) we can't married on the beach, we do a garden wedding at the state park or in the garden of our hotel.

my wedding coordinator is great and i completely trust her recommedations.  she is going to let us know more in the next couple of weeks.  we are in Kentucky and listening to the devastation for familiies and wildlife breaks my heart.  it makes my wedding seem like such a small thing in the wake of what people are going through.
