Hometown or Newhome for Wedding?

Hey ladies..I need some suggestions!Where do I have the wedding southern IL or northeast FL I am a local gal from southern Illinois--Makanda specifically. Born and raised there, my entire family is there. Last year I moved to Jacksonville, FL and absolutely love it.. mostly because this is where I met my fiance!! Pros and Cons mostly dealing with getting everyone to FL, cost, and there's nothing "us" in IL that's just where I'm from. His family is all over, but mostly all in Texas!? I would like to share the place where I live now with my family. HELP

    It's really up to you...but the last sentance you wrote is a pretty clear indicator of where you would like to have your wedding. FI and I are the only people that live in Jacksonville...but that's where we decided to have our wedding. This is where our life is now and it's what felt right to us. Some IL family might not be able to make the trip...but as long as you're ok with that I say do whatever make you and FI happy.

    Sounds like you really want it in Jax. Give your family ample time to plan the trip down and they will make it work.

    My DH and I don't have any family here, but we gave everyone ample notice (18 months) to save up for the trip.  Thanks to that, we had a guestlist of about 150 people who came from all over the country.  I think it's perfectly fine to have your wedding down here, as long as you give everyone time to plan/save.

    agree with pp!  I say have it where you live PLUS it will give your family the opportunity to see your new home.  AND planning a wedding in a place you live HAS to be easier than planning long distance.

    FI and I decided to have the wedding here in Gainesville (where we live now) instead of either of our hometowns (3.5 hours away and all the fam is still there).  It was definitely the best decision we could have made.  The planning has been much easier, and we got the wedding we wanted with the guests we wanted instead of it being more of a party geared for our parents.
