How do I pick a Wedding venue?

I think I have been posting on the wrong board! Opps!
I live in Pensacola fl I have been posting on the west fl board.
Anywho! ...
I have less then 3 mo to go 10. 07.10 is our date!
I have the Dress, Rings, Groom!, No place picked out for the wedding yet!
Its going to be the two of us very privet but I want it to be beauitful and classy.
I have no idea where to get married?.... 
How did you girls pick your wedding venue?

    Have you found your officiant? Often they have great recommendations for an intimate wedding like yours!

    Try Kas @ Beach Bum Weddings. She is very helpful.

    or if Non-religious is OK our DJ highly recommends EJ Campfield at nonreligiousweddings.com. His site has some suggestions on it.

    For the ceremony-it was a toss between my church and First Baptist downtown when First Baptist said that I had to be a member to have my wedding there, I chose my church which was free.

    For reception-I made a list of places in our budget, then looked at what they were able to provid (ie tables, chairs, linens), then looked at the location from my church (travel time wise), and finally parking would it be able to accomodate our wedding guests. We ended up going with Sanders Beach.

    Think of what you want the feel of your big day to be.  Do you want it to be formal? Check out country clubs.  Want casual? Check outdoor/ beachy venues.  Want something kind of funky? Look for libraries, museums, etc.  We knew we wanted something formal so we went with the Cathedral Basilica in St. Augustine for our ceremony and the Riverhouse for our reception.  Hope that helps...good luck!     Oh dear! I started off there and when i was lurking around I notced there werent any Pcola postings.

    So is it just you and your Fi getting married and liek 2 other ppl. or are you haveing guest... if so how many??

    I am getting married in the church, we pick our venue on how many ppl it could hold and location... so it was NEw World Landing!

    I really liked the Commerce Museum and Pensacola Little Theater but Fi didnt like the Commerce Museum(He hates Museums) and well I would have to change my date for Little Theater to the 8th and I thought that that was to close to the holidays. so thats how i picked mine.

    I couldn't really plan much of anything until I found my venue.  For me, the venue is what set the theme for our wedding.  We are not religious so I just started googling wedding venues in my area and picked up ANY local free wedding bookelets that I could find (usually at the grocery store exits).  I narrowed it down to a few places and the FIRST one I visited I fell in love with!

    It will only be me and my Fi and I thought maybe if we do it localy my two sons 12 and 8 years old could walk me and give me away. Thought that would would be sweet.
    So I really dont need a place that has people room just nice. My dress is crazy! its a princess like gown, (I got a great deal on it!)
    Gosh I am just stuck! and Fi is no help at all...Grrrrr!

    Ok as of Today... I have found our wedding venue we are getting married in St. Augustine FL at the Otttis Castle. We will be staying in the Cedar House Inn B&B. Ahhhhh I am so excited to have that done!
    And... My dress got here today! It is better then I thought it would be. I am going for some touch up alterations tomorrow. Its all coming together now!
    Plus we are in the middle of moving into our house! Talk about stress!!!
    However I am tring my best to keep my head above water and just be very grateful for all my Blessings.

    That will be so pretty!  My friend got married a the Ottis Castle!  Word of advice....the way the castle is set up it is very hard for candles to be put on that table when you first walk into the castle...the wind keeps blowing the candles out.  I was lighting them every 5 seconds while people were arriving.  :)

    Oh My! Thanks for the heads up!
    I am tring to get ahold of the Castle owner he hasnt called me back so its not a for sure thing yet.
    I did put a dep. on the B&B for 5 days so its for sure going to be in St Augistine Fl.
    Oh I hope we can do it in the castle if not then we could do it at the Inn or find another place there to do it.
    How did your sister plan her wedding there?
    Is she happy she got married there?
