reception in a park in Jax

Has anyone been to a wedding reception in a park? Like with a tent? I can't find any websites or anything that gives info on what parks in the area you can rent out. Can anyone help?

I don't know about parks specifically in Jax but I can tell you that when I first got engaged, I was looking into getting married in Forsyth Park in Savannah and it was a pain in the butt.  Between all the permits you have to get and they require that you hire police officers as security.. and then what do you do if it's raining that day?  Plus, what about food prep?  It was just wayyyy too much nonsense.

Maybe you'll have better luck in Jax though.

My one piece of advice would to be to call up Jax Recreation and Community Services, they should be able to tell you which parks are available.  You might also check out FL state parks, I know that you can get married in the Fort Clinch State Park, for example.

Don't forget to ask about alcohol - this is public land and most times they don't allow the consumption of alcohol.

Dont know if you're still looking, but here's the link for the city of Jacksonville's permits for public parks.  There are a lot of restrictions (tents cannot be staked into the ground, only weighted, no alcohol, no amplified sound, etc.)  I dealt with Shana Goshorn when my venue got changed (the Treaty Oak will be closed from August thru January), but most of the permits run $37- $40.  That doesn't grant you exclusive use of the park, just the right to be there & have your ceremony/reception.  You do NOT have to hire police - a copy of the permit is sent to JSO for their records in case there is any disturbance or conflict only.  We're getting married at Memorial Park, which is beautiful, right on the water.  Also recommend Stockton Park in Ortega. Hope this helps! Smile
